| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 14, 2005 Pours an orangish red color with a small head. Aroma is of hopps and a touch of malt. The flavor is a citrus hoppy flavor with a maltiness and some wood notes from the oak aging. Personaly I think the oak aging may have taken away from the hops which is what I look for in an IPA. Still a good IPA. crzybob77 (528), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 12, 2005 Certainly a solid IPA. There are so many incredible IPAs out there, so this is easily over shadowed. But, this certainly holds its own. The best aspect is how well balanced everything is. The sweet malts and bitter hops tie in nicely together. Can’t complain here. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 20, 2005 Thanks to Buck Dich for this one. Pours dark straw/light copper with medium white, smooth head. Aroma of malt, hops, floral esters, slight oak. Tastes malty, with big hops, a solid fruity element, florals, and subdued oak. Medium, very smooth palate. Very well balanced. This one deserves more respect. Ernest (4515), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Feb 15, 2005 Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear medium amber. Aroma is moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit), lightly malty (cookie), lightly yeasty (dough), with notes of wood/sawdust. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, heavily bitter, husky. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Yikes, this is pretty bad for me...poorly integrated raw wood character blended with PNW hops, then take a sip and find it badly unbalanced and with a tongue-coating ending. Drain pour for me, just nothing redeeming. jde123 (715), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 9, 2005 A pretty decent IPA! Can really taste the oak barrels in this one, definately not like most other IPA’s I’ve tried. HOwever, quite one-dimensional, lacking in decent ingredients. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 8, 2005 Doesn’t taste like most american IPA’s...maybe this is the way they should taste?
Very clean taste. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 2, 2005 Metallic orange body with abundant fine particulates, mild carbonation, and a cottony white head that quickly faded. Interesting organic herbal and spicy hop nose with tangerine-like qualities and a note of butterscotch candy. Semi-dry, unique spice and tangerine flavor with elements residing somewhere between butterscotch and toffee. Nutty and woody notes as well. Decently balanced with only moderate bitterness by American IPA standards. A novel and interesting IPA all-around that seems more traditional and authentic in comparison to nearly all contemporary American IPAs. BennyTicklez (621), USA
