| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 25, 2004 (12 oz bottle: Trader Joe’s in San Diego, CA) On the light side for an IPA, this isn’t a big, flavorful IPA. Moderate maltiness, somewhat fruity in nature is balanced by a bild hops bitterness. Oak aging does contribute a nice, gentle flavor, but compared to what oak aging does for some of these special release beers, the oak influence here is pretty light. Mild, woody, earthy nose with a vaguely sweet and floral aroma and a slightly smokiness emerging from time to time. Golden amber in color. Average head size on the pour, fading to a thin, bubbly layer. Some vertical streaks of lace are left on the glass. Worth trying once, but that’s about it. darkstar (69), Eureka, Missouri, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 19, 2004 You simply don’t taste the hops in this as much as other IPAs. Small white head which diminished rather quickly. Color is amber and you can almost read the computer screen through a full glass. Fairly bitter taste. The wood taste is there most strongly at the end. I’ve had better and I’ve had worse. Worth a try. motelpogo (4394), Plzen, Czech Republic

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 6, 2004 floral hop aroma. nice pale light amber color with a decently thick lasting head. taste is very mellow. definately more towards an english ipa than american. grassy, citrus taste. seems a bit lacking in hops in the finish, but this was smooth and pretty good. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 22, 2004 I thought this was a very woody IPA. Aroma was piney and floral - like a forest. Taste was not as piney - more of a dull oak bitterness - I actually wasn’t all that happy with the hops. Luckilly the caramelly malts helpef with some balance. This is an IPA that I’d actually not bother to try again. Found this in Trenton, NJ. kujo9 (1077), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 12/20 | Nov 22, 2004 Light amber w/ a lasting off white head. Herbal spicy hop balanced by toasty, caramel malt, and a fresh cut oak woodiness. Wood aroma is subtle and adds a nicely, very low apple fruitiness. Balanced just to bitter w/ some caramel sweetness & light toasted malt; finish is semi dry w/ some fruitiness, aftertaste is herbal hop. Starts a little sweet, but finishes smooth & nice. Medium body, dry m/f, very light alc. Verygood IPA. Could be a little more bitter for style, but that suits me just fine. Zinister (1201), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 15, 2004 Pours reddish-copper...and mostly transparent. Average head. Nose is more hoppy than malty, but not overpowering at all. Good hop bitterness mixed with citrus, orange and floral...and quite a bit of it. The smoky oak is there, but just at the very end, and it’s not very strong...which is good, cuz I like oak in my cab, not my IPA.
