Had a hazy almost orange look to it. Okay on the taste, not the biggest fan of IPA’s but my first try on this six pack is okay. Will rerate after i polish it off tonight! | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 4, 2004 Red-orange, clear, with a small, white head. Muted citric hoppiness in the nose with a slight caramellyness. Decent amount of hop bitterness in flavor accompanied by a surprisingly nice amount of chewey, sweet malt. Very nice balance, though I’m not sure what exactly the barrel aging did other than mute some of the the flavors. KAggie97 (2481), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 30, 2004 This is a nice beer. Not too flashy, not too timid. Just right. Lovers of hops will probably be a little disappointed with the subduedness of the ingredient, but it is still a very approachable and likeable beer. I’ve only had a few of MacTarnahan’s offerings, but like most Northwest breweries, I have not been let down. Metalhead (572), Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 27, 2004 Updated: Jan 15, 2005Interesting brew this one is. Orangey amber with a 2 finger head that took forever to disipate. Hoppy/floral aroma. Taste was hops, pine, grapefruit and some other kinda zing. Didn’t notice any oak until the tail end of the finish. Served at about 50 F it impressed me less as it warmed.

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 27, 2004 My first bottle of this brew erupted all over my kitchen. I nearly panicked ’til I remembered I was single again. Leaving Merry & Pippin (my cats) to enjoy the spill, I poured a deep orange brew with brown tints with a generous white head, which hung around only briefly. Nice woody & hoppy aroma. It’s got a full-bodied mouthfeel with subdued yet enjoyable tastes of citric and floral hops with oaken tastes. It’s a much smoother IPA than what I prefer, but an enjoyable, tasty drink nonetheless. footbalm (1219), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 20, 2004 orange amber brew with anice big bubble layer of foam, nice lacing as the head sinks down to the beer.Nose is grapefruit and floral perfume.I do not get much of a oaken note here.herein lies the oak,the flavor of this is wound together, hops and oak.finish is a little bitter and body is nice. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 15, 2004 Amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is grapefruit, pear, with a bit of bubblegum. Nicely balanced flavor, though malt presence is minimal. Spicy hops throughout - finish is very crisp. The Oak flavor is there, though subdued, mostly coming through in the finish. Bonus point for value - one of the best IPAs in its price range. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 14, 2004 Poured orangey amber with thin tan head...fruity floral aromas with a hint of smoked wood...there is something intimidating about rating a beer right after omhper...taste is indeed well balanced...malty and a little sweet at first followed by a smooth onlslaught of hops on the tongue...peppery crisp finish...great IPA...well balanced indeed...
