Commercial Description:
Editor's Note: Formerly Woodstock IPA, now known as Oak-Aged IPA.

Woodstock IPA is an authentic wood-conditioned India Pale Ale with the distinctive flavor of the British Empire’s original. Traditional IPAs were distinguished by rich hops, which were generously added to preserve the beer during its long overseas voyage between England and India. They were also characterized by striking oak flavor, as the beer made its journey in wooden barrels. Woodstock IPA matures in oak and is dry-hopped during the aging process to bring you the classic style.
Specs: Original Gravity 15.5, Specific Gravity 1062, Hop Bitterness 45 IBU

This IPA pours with an amber orange body topped by a thin head with some lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet and malty with a slight hoppy bitterness and a touch of oak. The flavor is slightly sweet and slightly bitter with a nice malt note, a little grapefruitiness and a little oak. Medium bodied, smooth and slightly dry.

The oak flavor really does make this beer quite distinctive. Not much going on here for the serious hop head but there is a minor hoppiness to it. The bitter hops are well balanced (maybe too much so) by the sweet malts.

Well i am not an IPA fan. Has a noce hoppy aroma to it though. Taste is some what sweet, maybe, but a bit to hoppy for my likings.

Poured nicely, had a very nice head on it. Odor was of pine and citrus. Citrus flavor, pine flavor, hop bitterness, yeast, oak was also sensed, sweet finish with more of a yeasty taste.

Bottle: Pours dark amber color with a medium eggshell head. Some hops come through in the aroma with floral, citrus, and spice. There is a nice scent of oak that really compliments the small amount of malt tones and pear in the nose. Easy to drink, this beer tastes of grapefruit citrus, apple, oak, floral hops, a bit of caramel, and some whiskey/vanilla/chocolate notes. I really like the oak flavor.

Found this at Gomer’s this week. Anytime MacTarnahan’s has a new beer in my town I’ve just got to try it. Excellent IPA!!! Smooth, drinkable, hoppy/malty. They do it again, I’ve yet to have a bad beer from this company. Oregon brews are definitely special and this one is no exception.

Really boring, typical IPA. Pours a amber color with a small ivory head. Aroma is faintly hoppy with a slight oak coming through from the barrels. Taste was rather plain, not very hoppy or bitter, it did have a unique oak flavor from the barrels, but it can’t cover up from the half assed IPA, compared to other PNW IPAs. Also, very thin mouthfeel, almost watery.
