Not much aroma, but there’s a slight hopiness to it. Just needs more for an IPA. A little grapefruit and tar with some caramel backing, but it seems like it’s trying to move from the kiddie table to the adult table. Not very bitter. bitter (1137), Henderson, Nevada, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 29, 2004 Fuzzy, copper color. Buttercream, thick, long-lasting head. Aroma is light/soft: fruity hops, cherries, watermelons, fresh pineapples, all very subdued most likely from the aging. Thin to medium mouthfeel consistency. Pineapple, cherries, all sweet up front falling to a bitter, metallic finish that is also watery. Ending could be a lot better, still not a bad shot of hops from this one. No oak is really apparent. hopdog (5614), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 25, 2004 Amber in color with a large off white head. Light citris aroma with woody smells. No bitter tastes at all. A little sour after taste. Not a typical IPA and not in a good way. Kevin (1918), Colorado, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 20, 2004 Talk about bringing a knife to a gun fight. A thin, slightly woodsy, decidedly fey beer, which is not a good adjective to bring to an IPA. Has no business along side other west coast examples of its breed. That said, it is not a terrible beer, but it is one that hints at real character without delivering. BigBastard (668), L.A., California, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 19, 2004 The oak was slight, but the spicy hop and citrus flavor came through more. A good, solid IPA that makes a great thirst quencher in the summer heat. fly (1333), austin, Tejas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 17, 2004 Doesn’t give me a woody. Sucking on an oak chip doesn’t really do it for me. Was hesitant in buying this and now I think I was right. Not terrible, but I do tend to appreciate an IPA that’s more agressively hopped. Not a BAD beer. Would throw into the Pale category and still think it was just okay.
