The aroma is lots of caramel malt and a good dose of hops. The flavor is really smooth and has a nice creamy mouthfeel. Tastes of hops, caramel and vanilla--very complex. This was a nice suprise.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 9, 2006 Pours a translucent golden amber with an average creamy off white head that laced and sustained. Aroma of a sweet caramel malt, toned down citrus hops and some oak. Getting more of the wood in the taste. Not really importing much vanilla but more of an earthy woodiness. Hop bittterness is still there, but not overpowering. Seems a little oxidized. drpimento (824), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 9, 2006 Poured a hazy burnished brass with a medium fizzy head that was gone with a third of the beer left. Had a decent nose with some malty caramely sweetnes off set by some hoppiness. Didn’t pick up much of the oak-aged character. Not bad, not very special. Bottle was a gift from a friend Paul B, who brought it back for me. T’anks Paul!
