| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 27, 2005 Pours a hazy amber color. Smells of hops and caramel malt and not much else. Taste is bitter hop taste with oak character and supported by the sweet caramel malt taste. A decent IPA but I need more of a citrus hop bite in my IPA’s. 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 24, 2005 Bottle. Orange to copper colored and very clear. An attractive tan head forms and fades rather quickly to a consistant thin film which leaves modest lacing. Aroma is a nice blend of malt, hop and wood. There is a caramel sweet aroma from the malt, a pleasant woodiness and plenty of earthy/floral hops. Body is medium to light, carbonation is pleasant. Initial fleeting touch of malt sweetness is moderated quickly by a tannic presence and a well balanced hop bitterness. Nothing overwhelming but a very solid IPA well balanced with what is probably an authentic oak flavor. JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 18, 2005 12 oz bottle. Deep golden colour, thick off-white head. Aroma is malty with caramel, whisky, and vanilla up front before some bright spicy hops and a definite orange blossom character come through. Flavour is well-balanced with some sweet honeyish malts up front, vanilla and some oakiness before a spicy and juicy hop flavour takes over (maybe amarillos and willamettes). I’d probably dial the bitterness up a few points, but this is a solid brew. dirtymike (2018), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jun 8, 2005 A serviceable IPA but not terribly interesting. Malty, hoppy--has the basics down well, but there’s nothing that distinguishes it much from the pack. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 5, 2005 Slightly hazy and honey colored with little head. Intense toasted malt and caramel aroma with vanilla, rum and some earthy hops. Tart and thin with an astringent finish. The flavor doesn’t live up to the aroma. howie (549), DeForest, Wisconsin, USA

Dead aroma, slightly citric, slightly fruity. Flavor has a light caramel malty sweetness and peppery bitterness. Pleasant enough, but not really satisfying. MrWalker (927), Stockholm, Sweden

Has a malty sweetness to it below all this very raw hoppiness. If there is such a thing as a purple taste, this one has it...
