| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 25, 2005 Hazed amber, creamy off white head. Soft and subtle tones of citrus, wood, vanilla, toffee, with a slight hint of lemon meringue. Aroma and flavor are quite similar, but with a woody citric bitterness standing right up front for you to take notice. As it comes around and continues its journey to the warm side, small hints of earthiness emerge before it gets totally encompassed in a lightly sweetened malt backbone. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, woody, dry, bitter citric finish. Since I enjoy beers from the wood, this one became no exception. Underrated just a bit in my opinion...

| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 18, 2005 Where are the hops in this beer? This is hardly even a pale ale. I’m still considering pouring the rest of this down the drain as I write. The color is OK, but the body is weak and the hops notes are even weaker. I guess the only thing that really stands out is the smokey flavor of the Oak Barrell aging. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 17, 2005 Pours amber almost copper. Offwhite head that lingers for a bit and laces the edges of the glass. Darker for a IPA. Aroma is malt and citrus with a hint of wood. Not as hoppy as most of the IPAs I’ve tasted. The taste is very unique. You can taste the oak in the beer. It takes some of the hoppieness away I belive. Very smooth and drinkable. A little less bitter than the usual IPA but there is still some bitter at the end. Sweet malts dominate the flavor. It is not too heavy on the palate but just about right for a IPA. Not too bad. I’d drink it again but I like their blackwatch porter better! BeerBlockaid (538), Jacksonville, Florida, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 15, 2005 I’m not a fan of IPA’s but I figured I would give something that said "Oak-Aged" a try....yea right. I just don’t know what the big deal is about them but im down for new things. I was surprised to find I enjoyed this. It was smoother than the other *cut your tounge out IPA’s* I’ve had. Overall citrus and fruit flavours. The oak flavour is present more-so in the aroma for me. A little malt there too. MrBunn (1540), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 14, 2005 Pours fairly dark compared to most IPA’s I’m familiar with. Aroma is of wood and orange, while taste is pleasant, but a little bit lacking in a definite direction and hops don’t come through quite as much as I would like in an IPA. Still, I’ll probably add this one to the "OK to buy at any time" list. CapFlu (3483), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 19, 2005 (Bottle) Medium, white creamy head with a ceep copper body. Mildly woody, malty and with an orange bitterness. Mossy flavour with a Fruit Loop and bitter hops finish. Average. Tejas (700), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 16, 2005 Smells kind of malty. Maybe that’s the oak I detect? More hop bite would be nice. Pretty smooth to the palate. More citrus & spice flavors would be OK. Glad I tried it but one & done for me. I think I prefer a regular IPA as opposed to an Oak IPA.
