ElJefe (553), Rochester, New York, USA Mar 10, 2008 Black with a thick brown head. Aroma of caramel, molasses, and chocolate. Flavor is slightly fruity up front, with cocoa and smoky tobacco notes emerging later. Dark roasted coffee finish. Perhaps a bit thin, and could use smoother/less carbonation. Nice dry stout though. RSRIZZO (1345), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Nov 26, 2007 Had this beer on 5/6/1999. Color is a solid black with good carbonation and a thick head. Aroma is a sweet rich roasted malt scent. Taste is rich, smooth and roasted. It starts with a rich heavy body with a wonderful roasted malt flavor coming out. This goes down smooth with the roasted malt flavor growing. The finish comes on with the malt flavor peaking, followed by a light hop flavor and good hop bitterness. This is a ver good Stout IrishBoy (2686), Bakersfield, California, USA Jun 13, 2006 Nose of coffee and chocolate; body shows opaque black with a thick, nicely lacing tan head head; flavor is hoppy with coffee, smoky, and chocolate notes. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA Dec 1, 2005 Dark brown body with a small tan head. IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA Nov 6, 2005 I forget who brought this to Paul’s party, but thanks.
Poured black with a fizzy brown head. Aroma is light bitter roasted coffee. Taste follows from the aroma, but with very little sweetness or balance. Somewhat thin-bodied. Not bad, but not all that interesting. Tmoney99 (4656), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 27, 2005 Bottle. Pours a black color with a large creamy light brown head that was mostly lasting and produced fair lacing. Average roasted coffee and chocolate aroma. Medium to full body with a creamy texture. Medium smoky stout flavor with a good smooth long finish. walleye (876), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Sep 15, 2005 from the bottle. poured black with a small tan head with some lacing. aroma chocolate, malt, coffee, with hints of smoke. flavor got hints of bitter coffee, and semi sweet chocolate did get some smoke and a touch of licorice. not to bad but don’t think I will buy again zach8270 (2051), Henrietta, New York, USA Jul 24, 2005 Updated: Dec 12, 2008[bottle - 12 oz] Dark black pour with a thick tan head. Looks just like it does on the label. Slight aroma of coffee, roasted malts and chocolate. Very good stout smell. The flavor is a well-blended mix of chocolate, roasted malts and coffee with a slightly bitter coffee finish and a bitter aftertaste for a split second. There is a lot of smoky notes throughout the beer. I think this is very much under appreciated. It even tasted good warm.
