Commercial Description:
As with the finest old-world stouts, Thunderhead is inky-black with abundant dark-roasted flavor. But this Irish style Extra Stout goes beyond the classic style. It has a wonderful roasted barley character with a noticable but pleasing hop bitterness. Bursting with vibrant hops, Thunderhead delivers rich, smoky flavor with a dry, smooth finish. With enough body to satisfy the most demanding stout zealot, yet smooth enough to please the everyday craft lover, Thunderhead is destined to find broad appeal. This stout reinforces our commitment to producing truly distinctive beers.

Black with a big, rocky tan head. Smokey, roasty aroma. Flavor of malt, roast and coffee. Finish is long, very smokey and bitter

Nice appearance. The dark copper-brown body is black until closer inspection and the head is sandy and healthy. It lasts nicely and leaves behind a fine lace. The aroma has a nice bit of roast to it, but the body is a bit weak. The roast is still there, but more chocolate and oak. Slight lingering bitterness in the finish. Very easy drinking, but leaves you wanting more.

This is a pretty lame stout. Poured dark red-brown with a creamy tan head. Toasty roasted malt aroma led to dry roasted malt flavor that remained on the tongue about as long as a pizza lasts on Rosie O'Donnell's table. Oh, and there were hints of hops too. Thin-bodied and weak.

Real dark color, small head. Kind of thin body. Roasty as hell, some chocolate/coffee action. Good bittering in the finish. Not bad!

Pours black, jet black that is. No seeing through this one. Nice foamy off white head and sparse lacing. Roast chocolate malts mainly in the aroma. Some raisins as well. As in the description, some smokiness as well. The flavor mimics the nose pretty well. The roasted malts come out a bit more, and the smokiness is a little more defined. Oily palate and a medium body with a finish of bittering hops and alcohol. Nice stout.

Pours nearly pitch black with a fairly hefty head that leaves a good amount of lacing. Oak flavor with chocolate hints and a watery palate. Pretty watery and poor aroma to match.

Opaque with rocky tan head and very good lacing. The aroma hints of roasted and burnt dark malts, apple, black currants, bittersweet chocolate, city roast coffee, floral hops and chalky yeast esters. The taste has a unique combonation of sweet and smoky malts, acidic and lactic flavors, and undertones of hops and coffee bitterness. Touch of peat and sea salt found as well. The mouthfeel is a bit thin and carbonated. Good beer but I would like my cream stout to display to lactic nature more at the forefront, not a background flavor. Confusing, more like a dry stout than a cream. Quaffable.
