I was looking forward to trying it because I really like this style of beer, but I was very disappointed. I hope it was just an old, stale bottle and not the true flavor of the beer. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 16, 2004 A slightly cloudy brown with a small tan head. Sweet malty profile, with floral hops. Smells just wonderful! A tasty Marzen for sure. A sweet but nice example of this style that I grow to love with each new beer!
A big thanks to my little sister Dawn for sending this from California to Japan for me! Gromit (462), Port Orchard, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 28, 2004 Pours a redish amber with a decent head with some decent lace.
Smells *really* sweet. As in, beyond the malt and there's sugar there. Some fruit esters are present.
Tastes malty with some fruit. Not very complex.
Mouthfeel is creamy and okay. Drinkability is average. I'm not impressed at all. GreatStelle (360), Chico, California, USA

Extremley good for an American Octoberfest. Blows Sam Adams version out of the water. baobubba (450), Corvallis, Oregon, USA

A very nice looking beer..nice darkish amber colour..with an absolutly gorgeous coffee and creme coloured head.
A great fresh maltyaroma in this..sort of english toffee smell.
Wow this is a malt lovers beer for sure, it dominates with its creamt goodness..its not too sweet though..slight chocolate tatse..with a hint of hops near the end.
Exceptionally smooth and creamy on the palate.
A very nice and extremely drinkable Marzen..recommended. TAR (2095), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 3, 2003 Clear rufous. Dense, sticky white head. Soft gummy malt aroma surrounded by graham, mineral, and toast. Spicy hop, ester, and leathery hints. Tight, expansive carbonation. Medium-bodied. Malty sweetness up front, followed by a touch of juicy plums and rich, bready malts. Finishes powdery and dry with a touch of oxidation and acidity alongside a lengthy, slightly musty candied malt sweetness. Lovely balance between the strawish Pale malt and sweet, tangy Munich. It’s got a snazzy aroma packed with sweet, bready malts and spicy hops, a sturdy head, and a beautiful round body and soft esters from the careful lagering. Very solid version. hopscotch (5531), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

The aroma is malty with notes of caramel. Nicely balanced flavor due to a nice spiciness. Very decently hopped. Another Oktoberfest beer... what can I say? Not my thing. Still, great for the style!
