AmEricanbrew (1218), Office of The President Elect,, Louisiana, USA May 16, 2008 Clear amber with a frothy head. Big grassy, floral hop aroma. Medium body and smooth. Big floral citrusy hop flavor with a fair amount of malt taste to temper things a bit. The big 11% is not lost and shows up in a lingering, nicely warming finish.
thedm (3407), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 27, 2008 This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized creamy head of foamy finely sized mostly lasting off-white colored bubbles that left behind a transparent dark golden brown colored very softly carbonated body and a fair lacing. The aroma was soft and floral with hoppy malty overtones. The mouth feel was of smooth floral hops and mildly tingly from start to finish with a mild hoppy aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of deep hops soft and floral with a very mild hop bite in the aftertaste. Glouglouburp (2113), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 29, 2008 In short: A very refreshing (at 11%!!!) IIPA. Caramel, oranges and pine-cone juice. Excellent.
How: From a growler at Dark Lord Day 2008. Thanks to bdigi66 (or so I just learned from the rating below)
The look: Partly cloudy dark orange body with a small white head
In long: Big nose of orange and pine-cones (usual suspect is Simcoe again). Well malted body, this beer is more than just hop-juice. Toasted bread with juicy caramel followed by a tasty fruity bitterness. Despite the 11% this beer is actually surprisingly refreshing and it hides its alcohol as well as a I hide mine when I’ve got family over.
BBB63 (3865), La Porte, Indiana, USA May 22, 2008 Growler at DLD of the 10th Anniversary Ale provided by bdigi66, thanks Robert: Golden hue with slight haze, frothy head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of grapefruit, apple, grassy, resiny, bready and yeasty esters, some rye-like vapors too. The taste starts with a sharp bitterness and fruity acidity, some sourness and biscuity malt before the peppery hop spice finish. The mouth feel is aggressive and biting, refreshing and provided a moderate warming effect on the chest. Really nice and complex, a good job by this brewery. Tmoney99 (3819), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA May 7, 2008 Draft at Fort Wayne brewpub. Poured a clear brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate grapefruit sour citrus hoppy aroma. Medium to full body with a slick but smooth texture. Heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. Another standout beer from this brewer.
