Draft at Fort Wayne, IN. Poured a reddish brown with a moderate off-white head that lasted with fair lacing. Moderate sweet yeasty dark fruit aroma. Medium body. Solid same sweet dark fruit flavor with small alcohol tone at the finish. Good drinkable brew.

This draft brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a transparent uncarbonated red brown colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was malty and oak. The smooth mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish with a mellow mild vinous hop aftertaste. The thick flavor contained notes of malt and just a little too sweet. An OK brew just nothing special.

Draft at MABC. Appearance was a small ivory head that mostly diminished, no visible lacing or carbonation, transparent, and an orange hue. Nose was malty sweet. Flavor was malt, sweet, watery, and thin. Smooth, watery and thin mouthfeel. Light body. Lacks character, very little aroma, the flavor was blah and boring and very disappointing for this style. I was looking forward to rating this one as I like this beer style, but ended up being disappointed.

pint at brewery - Aroma is yeasty cherry, candi sugar and plum. Pours cloudy red/brown with small head and decent lacing. Flavor is a match to aroma but with a little more maltiness to smooth it out. Palate is creamy and smooth. Not bad and MA should keep at it.

draft at the brewpub - I was thinking as I drove to Mad Anthony today that of the 22 MA brews I’d tried, none of them were Belgian styles. I’d yet to see a Belgian style there. Today they had this one and a golden ale. This beer pours a rather dark amber with a one finger head. The aroma is disappointingly light with just a hint of malt and maybe a little yeast. The flavor is sweet with malts and candi sugar coming to the fore and a little alcohol, especially as it warmed. It has a nice, medium bodied palate with fairly subdued carbonation for the style. It’s alright, but I was hoping for more.
