rkuhnel (1232), Eureka, California, USA Aug 8, 2008 From the brewpub in Fort Wayne, IN this glass came a nice coca cola colored brown with a decent tan head with good lacing. Attractive pour. Nose was fairly complex with chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, ripe fruit, and some smoke. Rich and creamy mouthfeel. Flavor is mostly roasted malts with coffee and chocolate dominating. Good bitter finish. A very nice stout. Best I have had from the brewer. thedm (3407), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Aug 5, 2007 This draft brew from the brewery poured a head of foamy fine to medium sized light brown colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a opaque no visible carbonation black colored body and a fair lacing. The mild kind of creamy aroma was brown malt roasted malt with the chocolate and dark chocolate notes coming out as it warmed up. The crisp for a stout semi-thick mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start mediumly tingly at the finish. The smooth flavor contained notes of mildly sweet dark malt and brown malt and went down very easily. A very good brew in deed. hotstuff (3060), Indiana, USA Jul 18, 2007 Draft at MABC and rated on 5/23/07. Small tan head that fully diminished with a fair amount of lacing, opaque, no visible carbonation, and a dark brown hue. Nose was chocolate, malty and lightly roasty. Flavor was semi-sweet, malty, lightly roasty, semi-creamy and chocolate. Mouthfeel was smooth and somewhat creamy. Light-medium body. One of MABC’s better brews IMO. The nose was faint at first, then more aroma as this brew warmed up. Very quaffable. Nice job from my local brewery! BBB63 (3865), La Porte, Indiana, USA Jun 10, 2007 On tap in FTW: Nearly opaque with a small lasting creamy head (nitro?) and very good lace. The nose detects chocolate, smoke, rye, walnut, bread, and earthy yeast esters. The taste has a nice bittersweet mocha front end balanced by a light lactic twang and finished with a solid smoky and nutty character. I even found a hint of blueberry on occasion. The mouth feel is smooth and medium-bodied, lush with a dry finish. A darn solid stout and I liked the smoky tone found within. A keeper and worth a try if in the area. patrick767 (1586), fort wayne, Indiana, USA May 22, 2007 draft at the brewpub - Pours very dark brown with a medium sized head. It has a light roast malt aroma. It has a sweet roast malt flavor with mild hops balance, a touch of chocolate, and a creamy, smooth mouthfeel. It’s a little lighter than I would have liked, but overall fairly good.
