jsquire (1946), St. Marys, Ohio, USA Feb 21, 2006 On tap at the brewpub. I ordered the English Bitter and this is what she brought. Jewel like deep ruby color with a foamy off-white head that coated the glass with sheets of lace. Sweet grain nose. Sweet beer with a ripe pit fruitiness. Burnt grains with a faint grassy hop finish. This did not seem either English or Bitter to me. patrick767 (1586), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Jan 14, 2006 draft - Light, hoppy aroma, thin head. It’s smooth and has some light hoppy bitterness, but I really expected more. The body was too thin and the taste too watery. It’s okay, but I know a bitter can be better. thedm (3407), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Nov 17, 2005 This draft brew from the brewery in my home town poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that left behind a transparent very soft carbonated weak yellow orange colored body and a good lacing. The aroma had a mild bitter malt hop note to it. The mouth feel was mildly tingly at the start and faded in the finish. The flavor was mild with a mild bitter note that was weak and thin. I think it was not 4.8% ABV, but thats what the brewer said it was. It seemed more like 3% to me. It was though true to the English style. hotstuff (3060), Indiana, USA Nov 14, 2005 Draft at MABC. Small wihite smooth head that fully diminished, fine sized bubbles, sparse lacing, carbonated, transparent, and a yellow hue. Malty, hoppy, sweet, and some caramel aroma. Ditto for the flavor. Very nice tasting brew. Smooth palate. Light body.
