patrick767 (1396), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 30, 2008 draft at the brewpub - Pours black with a lasting thin tan head. The aroma is of roast malt and chocolate. The flavor is an enjoyable blend of dark roast malt, chocolate, and a hint of coffee along with enough hops to balance it out and give the finish a little bite. Medium bodied and like many fine beers, better as it warms, MA’s head brewer has produced another very tasty variation on a porter. It’s no MA bourbon-barrel porter, but it’s still quite enjoyable. dpjuart (549), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 24, 2008 Draft at brewpub. Pours black with off-white head. Smells of roast, chocolate, slight caramel, alcohol and anise. Taste is roast and lots of chocolate with slight caramel and alcohol. Tasty brew. Best that they had on tap. I thought that it was barrel aged, but it was not. They faked it well. thedm (3405), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Jun 22, 2008 This draft brew from the brewing company poured a small sized head of foamy medium sized light brown colored bubbles that left behind a fair lacing. The body was an opaque brown with no visible carbonation. The aroma was of roasted tpoasted brown malts and a slight hop note. The flavor contained notes of chocolate and mild dark malts with a medium hop backing. The palate was smooth at first and finished with a mild hop aftertaste. It was a very easy to drink brew. Undoubtably one of their better brews. Only the brews that Todd holods on to and has aged for release around Christmas time are better. hotstuff (3038), Indiana, USA Jun 21, 2008 Updated: Jun 22, 2008Draft at MABC and listed on the chalkboard as an Imperial Porter. Very small tan head that mostly diminished, fair amount of lacing, opaque, no carbonation observed, and a dark brown-black hue. The nose was roasty, malt, chocolate, and hints of hops. The flavor was malt, chocolate, roasty, and some hoppiness. The mouthfeel was silky smooth and somewhat thin. Light-medium bodied. A very quaffable beer for the style, very easy to drink, worthy of a try, and one of the better beers by MABC.
