julrey (32), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA Dec 19, 2005 Updated: May 24, 2006 Golden straw hue with moderate carb bubbles clinging to glass. Minimal head.
Hoppy, distinctive aroma with the tongue getting a good carb bath. Kind of a watery mouthfeel but I do like the taste of the hops used. Really bitter and astringent, kind of puckering almost, but in a strangely satisfying way.
This one’s really all about the hops. The flavor isn’t overwhelming - certainly not a "hop bomb" per se - but the choice of hops suits me fairly well. Overall I’m not sure how well crafted this beer actually is - if I knew of other pales that used the same kind of hops I can see myself preferring the alternative.
bdigi66 (501), Ft Wayne, Indiana, USA Dec 17, 2008 Draft...burnt orange pour with a minimal white head. Light biscuit, pale malts, citrus and pine in the nose. Medium light body...flavors are mainly charred pine, light citrus and bread dough. Dastrn (75), Warsaw, Indiana, USA Aug 29, 2008 On draft at MA in Warsaw. Clear amber with a moderate white head. The nose was unremarkable, with piney hops and a little citrus, but not much. Flavor was hoppy, but not strong at all. Perhaps my tastebuds are spoiled after all the good IPAs I’ve been tasting recently! Mouthfeel was smooth. Better than anything else they had on tap over there, but it doesn’t jump out at you as a great beer. Just a good one. rkuhnel (1232), Eureka, California, USA Aug 8, 2008 The barmaid warmed me this was hoppy and she did not lie. Consumed from a draft pour at the brewpub in Fort Wayne this was a rich amber with nice white head and good lacing. Nose of pine and citrus hops. Smooth and rich mouthfeel. Flavor is mostly citrus hops Long bitter mouthfeel. Good. satan165 (205), River Grove, Illinois, USA Aug 5, 2008 quite a hop character for a non-IPA. plesant in the nose and tounge, very fresh and enjoyable. on tap at the fort wayne brewpub (and in bottles, same deal). MtStateBeer (62), Hurricane, West Virginia, USA Jul 20, 2008 Updated: Sep 2, 200812 oz. bottle. Pours an amber with a decent off-white head. Aroma is light malts, floral and a bit of pine/resin and citrus. Hops mostly in aroma, not so much in flavor, fairly bitter finish. One of the hoppier APAs I’ve had. Nice.
