pineypower (941), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA Jun 25, 2008 Found this sitting around during a cellar clean out. Pours out dark brown with a big rocky fluffy brownish head. Aroma is of some chocolate, coffee and slight roast. Flavor is some roast, coffee, chocolate and some sweet caramel. Well balanced, but forgettable.
JaBier (239), Capital City, Ohio, USA Dec 21, 2008 Sample at the Hopsnobbery Collective Porter tasting at Dogbricks on 12/4/08. Color is a mostly clear medium brown with some off-white head. Very malty aroma with a tad bit of hop and roast. Roasty and creamy flavor, but could use a little more on the finish. Dogbrick (2427), Columbus, Ohio, USA Dec 8, 2008 Sample at the Hopsnobbery Collective Porter tasting on 12/4/08: This beer is a nearly opaque dark brown color with a thin and foamy light brown head that recedes steadily. Spotty lacing on the glass. Roasted coffee and malt in the nose plus a bit of chocolate. Medium, dry body with flavors of roasted coffee and malt, plus some hops. The finish is roasted malt with a short sweet chocolate aftertaste. Above average overall. Wasatch (247), Layton, Utah, USA Nov 19, 2008 Pours a dark brown color, nice carbonation, huge three-finger foamy head, with tons of sticky lacing to follow. The nose is malty, with some chocolate/toffee. The taste is sweet, malty, with some chocolate/toffee. Medium body, the finish is dry and slightly bitter. Drinkable, not a bad brew at all. kseecs16 (617), Westmont, Illinois, USA Oct 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours an opaque dark brown with a big foamy tan head, leaves little lacing. Aroma is light just a basic roast character. Some chocolate flavor, sweet, maybe a bit astringent in the finish. Light and fizzy. Needs more body. bretupdegraff (135), Fishers, Indiana, USA Sep 2, 2008 very dark pour with super head that slowly diminished leaving a scattered laceing on the glass. Taste is roasty but seems weak - nice aftertaste. Very drinkable - maybe too drinkable for a Porter. Body seemed a bit watery and weak - no strong flavor that stood out to convince me to take another sip.
