RagallachMC (630), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jul 19, 2008 22oz bottle. Aroma: Really fruity with strong aromas of banana, bubblegum, and clove. Yeasty, bready, and caramel. Some slight pepper and alcohol notes come forward as it warms. Appearance: Dark brown and murky with some coppery highlights. Off-white head was full and creamy with good retention. Good lacing. Flavor: Really sweet upfront with notes of tobacco, caramel, and bread dough. Some banana, spice, and bubblegum into the finish. It dries up a bit into the finish, but still a little too sweet. Some alcohol flavors into the finish, as well. Palate: Medium-full bodied. Medium-high carbonation. Significant alcohol warming in back of mouth and in chest. Overall: An impressive beer from a brewery that hadn’t impressed me. If it was attenuated a bit more, it would be even better. A bit too sweet. I’ll definitely buy this again, though.
Beershine (1207), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 20, 2008 At vero, thanks McBackus! Warm reddish brown, mostly clear. Sweet aromas. soft mouthfeel. Raisins, dates, rum cake, rum-soaked fruit. Sweet, mellow sipping beer. WeeHeavySD (1699), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Aug 16, 2008 Bomber from Miketd, thanks Mike! Wetherel had been telling me about this for some time and now I have my own bottle...Pours dark amberish copper with a fleeting tan head. Sweet rich nose with a lot of character. Taste is sweet malty with some clear cut spicy character. Its a robust beer, and the alc isn’t there but the taste is somewhat strange. I like it, but its not quite what I expected. After drinking more I like it more, it settles well. smith4498 (332), Miami, Florida, USA Aug 14, 2008 Bottle courtesy of mcbackus. Pours cola brown with off white head. BIG aroma of banana bread. Sweet flavors of banana, figs and raisins. Medium body with full body, lively carbonation and a thick, creamy mouthfeel. Beerlando (1237), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 12, 2008 Courtesy mcbackus. The body is a dark reddish to sienna brown color. A small, frothy, cream colored head leaves random spots and flares of lacing on the glass. The aroma is just like banana nut bread. Seriously, it smells like a freshly baked, home made loaf, complete with cinnamon and raisons. Flavors shows sweet, mushy, browned bananas, vanilla pudding, cinnamon and figs. The body is thick and syrupy, finishing slightly hot from the 10.5% ABV. This is a really interesting brew. I enjoyed it quite a bit, even though this isn’t one of my favorite styles. darkguardian (166), Florida, USA Aug 11, 2008 22oz bottle courtesy of McBackus. Nose is crazy. Banana Nut Bread, its dead on to the point that its almost comical. I also get some fig and cinnamon in there. Burnt brown pour with a small beige head. Slightly hoppy flavor with dark fruit notes and pronounced fig, raisin and vanilla notes. A nice belgian. More notable for the crazy aroma than its actual taste.
