BlackForestCO (653), Fort Collins and Black Forest, Colorado, USA Aug 23, 2008 Bottle thanks to miketd, thanks Mike! Poured a deep dark brown color with beautiful garnet highlights and a moderate beige head that faded to a ring. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, brown sugar, fig, plum, and light yeast. Lightly sweet, fruity entry leads into a nice malty, brown sugar flavor with sweet undertones of plum, fig, dark grapes, and finishes with a nice caramel-rum sweetness. Smooth and full on the palate. Truly a delightful beer, thanks again Mike.
cmillward (270), Orlando, Florida, USA Dec 30, 2008 Bomber. Pours a chestnut body with an off-white fuzzy head, some slight lacing. On the nose, banana bread, rich, fruity, yeasty, some candi sugar, quite bready. Tastes of sugary fruit. bread, a touch of acidity, alcohol peeks through as it warms. It feels light in the mouth, drinkable, a little prickly from the acidity. Quite impressed with this phenolic Ohio-brewed take on a quad. Radek Kliber (3433), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Dec 18, 2008 Bottle 650 ml , Appearance: murky dark brown , light white ring on sides.4- Aroma: brown and black malts, plum sauce with light alcohol feel. Aroma of mellow depth quality noted. 8- Flavor/Palate: murky palate , mudded old coffee feel , sedimental accents with plum touch. Alcohol at edges. Slightly metallic at finish. Unfortunately aroma did not translate fully into flavor. DougShoemaker (2680), Toronto, Canada Dec 12, 2008 Winter Welcome Toronto.
Aroma is a sweet mellow pitfruit and malt, cloudy brown, trace of red at the side, tiny toffee head. Flavour is pifruit, heavy on the black cherry side. Medium bodied, very smooth, easy drinking. Great stuff. Thank You Sammy. CharlesDarwin (1501), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 9, 2008 22oz Bottle. Juicy red and musty cellar character. Light malt. Some interesting vinous
character. Pours a very dark clear reddish-purple, with a cloak in off-white.
Flavor is a fairly standard light belgian spice and esters. Good body and bright.
Very nice middle-red fruits. It’s overly complex or dynamic, but it’s decent. Nice
malt character, fruity blossom, and great balanced dryness and alcohol. Enjoyable
Belgian beer and not oppressive as a big beer. travita (908), Lewisville, Texas, USA Dec 9, 2008 Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Smell is sweet, raisans, malts, sugar, alcohol, and caramel. Looks is light brown and clear with not too much head. Taste is sweet, nuts, malts, slightly dessert like.
