hopscotch (4755), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Oct 22, 2008 Bottle… Backus’s Backdoor Bash ‘08... Cloudy orange ale with a very small, creamy, white head that doesn’t last long. The aroma is woodsy, earthy and lactic. Medium-bodied and lightly creamy with lively carbonation. Sweet, but not cloyingly so thanks to precise hopping. Lots of vanilla, but still a touch bland. Surprisingly unobvious alcohol. Reminds me of Anderson Valley’s Summer Solstice Cerveza Crema. Crisp, semi-sweet finish… then it does dry out. Big THANKS to BeerVirgin72 for providing the bottle! bu11zeye (4066), Frisco, Texas, USA Oct 4, 2008 (22oz bottle) Pours a clear amber body with a moderate off-white head. Aroma of vanilla frosting, watermelon, and coconut. Flavor of vanilla ice cream, almond, and cereal. I would have never imagined an 11% cream ale that could hide the alcohol like this one. Tmoney99 (3819), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 28, 2008 Bottle from Brew Keeper. Poured clear dark brown color with an average off-white frothy head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sweet vanilla and sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid sweet beer. goldtwins (3754), Nesconset, New York, USA May 3, 2008 The label states 11% not 9.1%. Poured a hazed amber with a medium off-white head that becomes a long lasting ring. The aroma is spicy and minty. The vanilla is light and there is mild tartness. The flavor had some vanilla and caramel malt with a touch of tartness. Creamy soft mouth feel. Sammy (3287), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 13, 2008 Thanks for this hitchiker bakerslp. Pour a whitish big foamy cup. Coconut-vanilla aroma, with some funky yeast. Creamy mouthfeel that is a cream-yeast concoction. Alcohol is warming. This must be shared, but I did drink it myself. Unique.
