Commercial Description:
Commercial Description: Part of our limited release high gravity series celebrating our twentieth anniversary (1989 to 2009) Double Dread Imperial Red (An American Strong Ale) is a high gravity red ale brewed with Two-Row Pale Malt, complimented by Aromatic and Wheat malts and a blend of CaraMunich, Carastan and Crystal malts for color, complexity and flavor. Fermented with our signature ale yeast, this hop bomb of a red ale is bittered with Colombus and Cascade hops, flavor and aromatics are enhanced by Cascade, Chinook and Amarillo, then generously dry-hopped with a tri-fecta of Cascade, Amarillo and Chinook for zesty citrus aromatics and a resinous flavor explosion. For those who chose to indulge their courtly passions be forwarned that this royal ruby refreshment ferments out at 8.6% a.b.v and nears triple digit IBU’s

Bottle thanks to cavie. Pours a VERY nice looking amber/red with beige head. Aroma is of forward pine, some notes of caramel. Flavor of loads of pine, some fruit, little malt, faint caramel. Mouth feel is medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, not a bad IPA....

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Hazy copper colour, fair sized head. Roasty perfumy nose. Mid-sweet with clean, vital body. Roasty and salty, very hoppy, notes of tangerine. Strong but unassaulting bitterness. Somehow condensing what’s good about US microbrewing.

Pours amber-mahogany with tons of yeasty sediment "floaties" into the glass, with an offwhite head that leaves generous sticky soap lace. Some citrus, caramel and pine lofts around the bouquet. Flavors of caramel, light biscuits and nice bitter hops abound. The finish is a dry, toasted bitter that lingers appropriately. This is not the most complex ASA out there, but there is a lot of substance in the texture and it has a nice round, medium body that hints at the kiss of alcohol notes throughout, all the while sliding down the palate quite easily. Decent Impy Red.

Dark amber pour with thin tan head. Caramel malt aroma with some citrus hops. extremely present hops throughout, with lots of citrus and a dry bitter finish. Good, but a little lacking in complexity.

Bottle thanks to Cavie. Pours with a tan head over a hazy brown-amber. Aroma of pine hops and caramel. Taste is much the same with the malt taking a front seat. Medium bubbles and a bit of alcohol taste.

Bottle courtesy of drowland. Light orange red with some amount of sediment. Big feel of hops with a feel of red. Dry taste with a body of deep red. Dry hop finish. Not bad!

A considerable rye character in this one, certainly bitter (piny/citrusy) as one would expect the style to be. This one had some floaties so maybe needs a fresh re-try.
