Commercial Description:
Commercial Description: Part of our limited release high gravity series celebrating our twentieth anniversary (1989 to 2009) Double Dread Imperial Red (An American Strong Ale) is a high gravity red ale brewed with Two-Row Pale Malt, complimented by Aromatic and Wheat malts and a blend of CaraMunich, Carastan and Crystal malts for color, complexity and flavor. Fermented with our signature ale yeast, this hop bomb of a red ale is bittered with Colombus and Cascade hops, flavor and aromatics are enhanced by Cascade, Chinook and Amarillo, then generously dry-hopped with a tri-fecta of Cascade, Amarillo and Chinook for zesty citrus aromatics and a resinous flavor explosion. For those who chose to indulge their courtly passions be forwarned that this royal ruby refreshment ferments out at 8.6% a.b.v and nears triple digit IBU’s

12oz from Norms. Pours reddish brown with a tan head. Nose is sweet and malty but very thin. The taste is funny. Too bitter with not enough a malty bite. eh

Imperial Red is not a style I like and this is a good example of why. Lots of sickeningly crystal malt astringency, blah, blah, blah.

12 oz - Dark crimson brown, white creamy head. Soft pineapple and citrus aromas ride undercurrents of caramel and molasses. Bitter spicy citric-pine flavors balance well on a foundation of earthed toffee and a touch of iced tea. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, bittersweet finish. Another fine example of the Imperial Red...

12 oz bottle Market of Choice. Pours deep red with lighter orangeish shading. Tiny white head, though pretty big lacing. Aroma of caramelt malt mixed with citrus hops, pretty aromatic. Flavor to me is quite malty but with enough citrus and light pine hops to balance it out. Bitterish finish. Solid beer, alcohol well masked.

Pours a reddish orange with a two finger offwhite/orangey head. The nose is very nice, sweet, candyish, nice citrusy hops, very pungent, caramel. Flavor is hopy, some fusel alcohol, bitter bite, tad thin on the mouthfeel. Flavor not as good as the aroma.

on tap at collins. Pours a reddish amber color, slightly cloudy. Typical extra hop aroma and a big bitter taste washes out everything else.

Bottle … Mostly clear, burnt orange ale with a mid-sized, frothy, off-white head. Great retention. Caramel and buttery pralines really stand out in the otherwise subtle nose. Full-bodied and ultra creamy with gentle carbonation. The flavor is of earthy, citrusy, and spicy hops intermingling with caramel and Munich malts. Lengthy, bitter finish.
