I thought it looked quite good. Earthy hop aroma is basically it. Nicely bitter in what I think of as a perfect ESB way. Earthy bitterness with a solid grain base. Quite nice. Semi-dry mouth feel and medium body. This beer, IMO, split the style of ESB and amber in a way that I really enjoyed. Not a spectacular brew. But one that I would drink again. Pour was not surprisingly a red/amber color. 1-finger off-white head dissipated down pretty quickly. As the rater before me sated, the aroma was subtle malts. Not too much going on in the nose. Mild spicy hops and a smooth caramel backbone make this easy to drink and enjoyable. Not outstanding by any means, but definitely a very sessionable ale. greenhorn1 (462), Mission Viejo, California, USA

Flavor has a mild caramel and roasted maltiness with some hop undertones which give it some citrus notes. Short bitter lingerness, with a medium mouthfeel. Decent amber ale. Fresh fruity hoppy caramel aroma. Definitely the freshest of the taps I tried. Very nice rich toffee and pomegranate fruit with a mild hop finish. Excellent. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Feb 1, 2008 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy with a frothy top fine to large sized tan colored bubbles that were and left behind a hazy with floating yeast chunks softly carbonated brown colored body and a good lacing. The mild aroma was musty and malt hop. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The thin flavor contained notes of malt and mild hops. An OK brew just nothing special. ucusty (1908), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA

Considering I paid $1 for this bottle and the reviews aren’t anything special, I was shocked by this beer. It pours a deep, rich auburn color that stays cloudy for the whole beer. The smell and taste is exactly like a good barleywine, just without the heavy alcoholic finish and burn. Nice dark fruit flavors, malty balance, and a cleaner finish than you can get out of a barleywine. The label and price had me thinking it was some kind of joke beer, but I’d take this joke any day.
