Poured dark, cloudy burgandy with a thin off-white head. Sweet malt aroma. This beer has a great malt complexity with a mild
bitter hop balance. Other flavors of caramel and maybe nuts. Most ambers that I have end up tasting like hard candy and are too subtle, but this one hits the right spots. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 13, 2007 A clear caramelized reddish amber with a thin tan head. Sweet biggish malt back bone. Caramel, light toast, and some floral cascade like hops. Really pleasant, but not too complicated. Thin body, low carbonation and a bit slippery. Very sweet. Rich caramel with significant SNPA-like hops. Sweet almost to the point of cloying. but I still like it. Hops are slightly piney. Small chocolate. A lingering after taste subtly similar to Oak Aged Arrogant Bastard. One of the better ambers I’ve had for sure! clong83 (243), San Diego, California, USA

A nice, earthy, almost cask-like flavor to it, and very spicy. Not watery, not too thick. The red ale is a hard style to get right, but there’s no serious drawbacks on this one. Very well done. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Nov 21, 2007 Dark malt aroma with prune, alcohol and bitter herbs. Cloudy medium-dark brown, big long-lasting head, little white floaties swarming about in this specimen. Chalky body with light grain bittering, fairly dry but with toffee tones. Precipitous finish, which gives the impression that the body is a little thin -- it flattens out quickly to a toast-and-citrus pith bitter. Fair enough, and you could drink one or two without any bleeding. Bottle, ABC Liquors. fakepurseninja (785), Washington, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 14, 2007 Ruby red with a tropical berry aroma, medium hops. Flavor profile rose from a rye-ish malt base, to strawberry in the middle, rounding out with mildly spicy hops. Adequate carbonation, but bit thick for a red ale in my opinion. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Nov 12, 2007 This is a good close to very good amber. Aroma was dark caramel malt with hops. Pour was a very dark amber with just a thin little white ring for a head. Taste was very hoppy. Roasted caramel in the front with a heavy hop aftertaste that bitters the back of the throat. Nice carbonation and very tasty. emacgee (1891), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA

The aroma is nice, sweet American hops, citrusy, resiny, caramel backbone. The flavor is a little bit more malt geared, spicy hops with a full bready malt flavor. Not a bad brew, a little underrated.
