Dark amber color, full, creamy head.
Arom is large, warm, herbal, malty...
Taste: lush mouthfeel, full on the palate, and very pleasing, earthy, meaty, plump...this is an exemplary amber ale, one that never lacks in flavor or in body, and after this one draft pint, i must say surely ranks among the best available in the U.S.
As I was in the company of others, my notes were brief and succint, so no over-effusive typical monkish rambling this time, but it was thoroughly enjoyed and will be long-remembered!

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 12, 2004 Billowing sandy head atop a dark red and brown body. Skunky, grassy malt aroma, quite starchy. Metallic and blood-like aroma as well... the taste is a little fishy with some maple malt and plum flavors... hoppy but without any sweetness. Graham crackers and wood are very pronounced. Deep-orange coloured and cloudy body with an almond head. Nose and flavour is MEGA malty and hoppy - yet strangely balanced. Very amazing beer - I look forward to sampling this one again! A nice balanced aroma. Hazy amber color with a light yellow head. Sweet, malty, hints of smoke, nice light hops to finish. This is very good and easy drinking. Probably the beer I enjoyed most from the festival.
