Commercial Description:
This beer was originally brewed for a famous Reggae festival that happens each year here in Humboldt County. A malty bitter American Amber style ale. This mahogany hued ale brings an intense spectrum of hop flavors from the spicy aromatic to lingering bitter, all underscored by a full- bodied caramel richness. Try this brew with a little Jamaican Jerked Chicken.

Dark, mahogany, woody, Earthy, and rich all come to mind. First thing I noticed was the sediment I mean this has to be the most sediment I’ve ever seen in a single bottle. Seriously not even the cloudiest of Hefeweizens have I seen this much sediment. Appearance wise this red ale is the epidamy of red beers. With that said the flavor does not quite hold up to the way it looks. Much more lite that I had expected but it does have this nice little spicy bite in the after taste. The description says its 6.6% alc but its masked very well. This is an interesting one and I do plan on trying it a few more times.

Bottle; pored a dark amber with an off white head. Aroma of fruit, caramel, flowers and nuts. Pretty enjoyable flavor. Caramel and nutty upfront. Floral and grassy finish. Nothing unexpected, just a solid brew.

Bottle, sampled during blind tasting. Pours an amber-brown and cloudy. Aroma of wood, caramel malt, and fruit. Full-bodied flavor of dark fruit, marbled caramel malt, a touch of soil and some hops. Overall, sweet and tasty.

Surprised this rated so low. Pours a dark copper with a thin white head. Good lacing. Aroma of hops and malt. Hops with floral notes and some malt on the tastebuds. Very enjoyable after cutting the grass.

This beer came in my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy red-amber color with a medium sized orange-tan head. The aroma was tangy, sour and lightly fruity. The flavor was bitter and nutty with fruity and floral hop notes. The finish was sour and bitter.

12 oz. brown stubby Smells of caramel malt with a tinge of citrus from the hops. Is slightly opaque amber in color, with little or no head and minimal sediment. Little to no lacing present. Tastes of subtle cherry and leads into a hint of cedar on the finish. The palate exudes a fair mouth-feel with noticeable spice on the front of the tongue. Ends with a creamy, yet metallic finish. Overall, a nice session ale. I can imagine enjoying this beer with some of Humboldt County’s other fine exports.

Bottled. An unclear amber beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is sweet with notes primary notes of over ripe fruits as well as a light touch of alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of over ripe peaches and prunes, leading to a dry slightly bitter finish. The body is too light, but the aroma and flavor reminds me of a Barley Wine. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.
