junon (160), Honolulu, Hawaii, USA Aug 4, 2008 Dark, mahogany, woody, Earthy, and rich all come to mind. First thing I noticed was the sediment I mean this has to be the most sediment I’ve ever seen in a single bottle. Seriously not even the cloudiest of Hefeweizens have I seen this much sediment. Appearance wise this red ale is the epidamy of red beers. With that said the flavor does not quite hold up to the way it looks. Much more lite that I had expected but it does have this nice little spicy bite in the after taste. The description says its 6.6% alc but its masked very well. This is an interesting one and I do plan on trying it a few more times.

Aroma is rather hoppy with some good citrus notes. Some grapefruit, honey, and grains. Flavor is very spicy and hoppy at the beginning with a lot of citrus in the middle that blends with some caramel malts and ends with a touch spicy and peppery hops. Aftertaste is bitter and spicy and lingers for a bit. sneagrams3 (1498), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Dec 13, 2008 The Dan Journal No.248. Tasted 11/10/08. 12oz bottle. Filtered with a reddish golden hue. Trace ring of off-white head. Aromas of honey and rye. Medium bodied with a busy palate. Rolling palate goes from sweet to bitter. Tart to sugary. Fruity with apple orange and grapefruit notes. Odd palte roll, but interesting. GuilTTy (493), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA Dec 4, 2008 Bottle. Cloudy dark amber supporting a small but long lasting light khaki head. Sweet malty aroma. Flavor dominated by caramel with a little milk chocolate and bar nuts. Creamy mouthfeel and sweet finish. Could use more assertive hops but not a bad beer - more irie than a Red Stripe, Mon.
