Commercial Description:
This is the second offering in our JAMAICA line of ales. We didn't want to make another IPA like everybody else so we opted for our own style. Unfortunately the gang at the BATF wouldn't let us use "West Indies" on the label stating that there is no such place. We all thought that Columbus was looking for the West Indies and ended up here by mistake. Oh well. We call this beer Jamaica Sunset because of its golden reddish hue. We use five different hops for aroma, bitterness and floral character. You get a crisp clean flavor and complex hop finish.

the best offering from mad river. the steelhead double feels a bit too malty for an IPA while this beer is much more atune to the style. great floral nose without too much sting. orange and pine mostly. mouthfeel is very smooth and not too bitter at only 65IBU. overall a very solid IPA and should be a great everyday drinker.

12 oz bottle. Cloudy orange with a white head. Lots of very fine particulate. Nectarine nose, touches of herbal and floral scents. Nectarine is much lighter on the palate than the nose, the floral notes more pronounced, adds some grapefruit and tangerine. This is a very tasty beer! Underrated, IMO.

Nice golden orange color… Nice hoppy aroma…. Nice sweet finish, not very hoppy however… Definitely not as hoppy as I like my IPAs, but a decent IPA nonetheless… I can kind of appreciate an apricot undertone…. I would recommend it to a beginner IPA drinker, who is not yet man enough to handle real hoppy IPAs…

Pours a light golden amber with a decent head. Something just isnt right with this one. Hops flavor is not balanced right and its a little to sweet for my taste. Very strange

Call me crazy but i love this IPA. It pours with a light white head. Small amounts of lacing. Not strong on the tongue or strong on the nose. I small amount of sweetness from hops in the aroma. Citrus hints. I like the taste and the strength. Its not overpowering, great IPA for someone who is new to the style, not a hop slam. Don’t expect 90 minute or arrogant bastard and you while be pleasantly surprised.

Pours lightly hazy golden amber with a mostly receding wispy off-white head. Head retention was actually pretty good for this beer, had a nice plump fluffy head. Aroma of sour orange, grapefruit, and mango. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, resinous with lush carbonation.

12oz - Aroma of pine hops with subtle caramel. Pours transparent copper with a medium head and good lacing. Flavor is rusty water and pine hops that uses the caramel malt to mellow it out. Palate is tart and resiny. Drinkable, but I’m not a big fan of the resin-pine IPA’s.

12 oz. Slight haze on the orange-copper body. Three-finger, crunchy and lasting head. Nice orange-honey and slight evergreen resin nose. Similar initial flavor that turns more resin, then more peppery citrus and finishes as a nice mix of all that, with some earthy tea leaf thrown in as well. Light-medium body is mostly smooth, but fizzes up a bit at times. Finish is dry and astringent. Typical West Coast-hopped AIPA with a slight British hop twist it seems; I like the twist.
