Commercial Description:
This is the second offering in our JAMAICA line of ales. We didn't want to make another IPA like everybody else so we opted for our own style. Unfortunately the gang at the BATF wouldn't let us use "West Indies" on the label stating that there is no such place. We all thought that Columbus was looking for the West Indies and ended up here by mistake. Oh well. We call this beer Jamaica Sunset because of its golden reddish hue. We use five different hops for aroma, bitterness and floral character. You get a crisp clean flavor and complex hop finish.

really enjoyed this, and was surprised by the lower rating...great color, orange/red combo, wonderfully smooth balanced hop flavor and aroma, very citrusy...

12 oz. bottle yields a clear gold pour under a rather paltry white head. Kind of an apricot and peach aroma with some citrus in the end. Mouthfeel is bit thin for an IPA, and there is even a little stickiness. Too sweet for an IPA, lacking that refreshing bitterness and dry finish that makes the style so appealing. I thought there was a tinge of a soapy aftertaste. Not too impressive.

Pours medium golden forming a white foamy head, aroma of sweet fruity malts and some pine hops. Ah, wow, not what I was expecting, somewhat of a bland IPA. Anti-climax, as a lover of hops this was a pull out, half ejector that makes you feel unfulfilled. Perhaps sessionable on a hot day on the boat, but definitely not a homer.

A fruity IPA. Copper pour with sediment and a big whitish head. Spicy aroma with hops, wood, and sweeter fruits. Grapefruit and citrus hops take over the palate, but without the IPA bitterness. Dry and light on the back end. I like it, but it really is not that good of an IPA.

12 oz. bottle- color of golden amber , with a thick off white head - dry nose of mild hops , spruce , caramel , and resin – taste of decent hops , salty , semi floral , spruce , and with malted background - body is dry , and with medium carbonation – aftertaste of dry hops , slight malt , and short

Cloudy orange, lots of sediment. Little head, no lace. Medium mouth feel, spicy hops with a slight tartness. Grapefruit flavours. Undistinguished - there are much better IPAs out there.

Pours a cloudy orange gold with little head. Smells sweet, almost spicy, with floral hops mixed in there. It has a bitter floral flavor and that stays with you.

Bottle from Chevy Chase Liquors in DC ( I think). Pours a murky amber orange with a dissapating white head. Faint aroma of floral hops, grapefruit, and raw bread dough. Very british like texture, on the thin side but not watery. The bitterness really dominates here. Initial flavor of grapefruit that transitions to a spicy hop bite. Acidic and slightly puckering finish. More grapefruit lingers on the palatee, along with some pine. This was decent, but nothing I would seek out again.
