Commercial Description:
This is the second offering in our JAMAICA line of ales. We didn't want to make another IPA like everybody else so we opted for our own style. Unfortunately the gang at the BATF wouldn't let us use "West Indies" on the label stating that there is no such place. We all thought that Columbus was looking for the West Indies and ended up here by mistake. Oh well. We call this beer Jamaica Sunset because of its golden reddish hue. We use five different hops for aroma, bitterness and floral character. You get a crisp clean flavor and complex hop finish.

Pours cloudy golden with no head. Reddish hue? Not really. Aroma is pungent, full of fresh hops, pine. Flavor is sweet with that same pungent hoppy flavor. Solid bitterness that lingers just long enough. Excellent IPA. Way underated here.

This pours a nice golden orange color with a white head. An earthy hop nose. The flavor is sweet , malty, with a restrained citrus bitter finish. More of a malty IPA that could benefit from a bit more or less hopping. It leaves me wanting more or less hops and I can’t make up my mind which. The current level doesn’t seem to complement the malt character very well.

Bottle poured a clear golden amber with a large lasting offwhite head. Aromas of carmel, earthiness, pine and light citrus. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of carmel, earthiness, orange, light pine and some floral notes with a moderatly bitter finish.

Thanks to tomgibson for sharing this IPA. Pours a hazy golden orange with an average white bubbly head that left some lacing and did a decent job at sustaining. Aroma of a lot of caramel maltiness, citrus hops hidden in there. Flavors of the same very grainy and malty. Not much hops.

Pours cloudy golden color with a well retained off white head. Aroma is a bit citricly hoppy, but only modestly so. Does have a bit of juicy grapefruit in the aroma. Flavor is likewise juicy grapefruit without much malt for balance. This IPA just doesn’t really stand out in the field of IPA greatness.

12oz bottle pours golden in color with small amount of sediment and a nice white head. Spicy hop aroma and flavor with little in the way of malt and body. A decent IPA but nothing special.

Bottle... Murky, golden ale with a small, frothy, white head. Good retention. Fruity, floral aroma. Malty-sweet flavor up front; lightly bitter and dry on the backside. Full-bodied and chewy with medium carbonation. Mildly bitter, bone dry finish. Solid English IPA.

On tap at Jupiter in Berkeley. Cloudy amber (nice color) with very little head. Almost no aroma. Flavor is citrus and turpentine with a dry, bitter finish. A bit overcarbonated. An entirely unremarkable/typical American IPA.
