Commercial Description:
This is the second offering in our JAMAICA line of ales. We didn't want to make another IPA like everybody else so we opted for our own style. Unfortunately the gang at the BATF wouldn't let us use "West Indies" on the label stating that there is no such place. We all thought that Columbus was looking for the West Indies and ended up here by mistake. Oh well. We call this beer Jamaica Sunset because of its golden reddish hue. We use five different hops for aroma, bitterness and floral character. You get a crisp clean flavor and complex hop finish.

Cloudy orange with an average head. Slightly orangey hop aroma. Bit of tingly hops in flavor but the finish fades away too soon leaving you unsatisfied.

(Bottled) Very hazy orange with floating yeast, bright white and fluffy, tight head. Lemony-orangey-hoppy, slightly flowery, not very sophisticated aroma. Crisp, hoppy, straightforward flavor with toffee hints and a very bitter, dry finish. Medium-bodied, dry and bitter palate with medium carbonation. A straightforward, but balanced and quite drinkable IPA.

I love the color. Golden first and red second. I think for the style the color is right on. Nice fluffy head suggests a healthy beer. A bright and freah aroma of grapefruit on the nose. This is one of the most citrus driven IPAs I’ve had. The malt is in the background and doesn’t do well against the sharp hop element. I do think the beer is a little underrated, but on the other hand... This beer is a little out of balance, the hop is too sharp and reminds of heart-burn if that makes sense. Nice beer, but I’ll just have one at a session.

Cloudy amber body with a moderate head. Aroma was fruity, but I also got a boatload of vanilla there. Light caramel malt too. Flavor was the same. Strange, wasn’t even close to what I envisioned.

Blonde with a big white head. (Jamaica?) Citrus and a hint of iron (blood) in aroma. Slightly oxidised. Mellow. Slightly boring. At the end some used pot (!) soil character could be found.

Bottled. Pours a medium golden/brownish color. Lightly sweet malty aroma. Smells somewhat like an English IPA. Hoppy flavor right up front with quite a bit of maltiness. Some sweetness and English hops. Good balance of hopiness and malts.
