Commercial Description:
This is the second offering in our JAMAICA line of ales. We didn't want to make another IPA like everybody else so we opted for our own style. Unfortunately the gang at the BATF wouldn't let us use "West Indies" on the label stating that there is no such place. We all thought that Columbus was looking for the West Indies and ended up here by mistake. Oh well. We call this beer Jamaica Sunset because of its golden reddish hue. We use five different hops for aroma, bitterness and floral character. You get a crisp clean flavor and complex hop finish.

Smelled kinda suspicious - like milky way nougat - upon cracking the lid. I poured and found it to look great. Nice medium amber color, no too cloudy not too filtered. Then I took a sip. This is a strange IPA. the hops are researved and this candy sweet taste hit you in the face. I don’t know if I would run out and buy a case of this. The palate is creeping up on me as I type. A strange lingering aftertaste for a strange IPA. meh.

This beer has an aroma of rotting grapefruit. It is a hazy maize colored solution with a big thick bubbly head. The taste is a bitter fruity taste similar to decaying citrus fruit, fortunately the taste fades fast.

Draft at Barclay’s. Clear light copper color with a white head. Hoppy aroma with floral notes and pine as well as a mustiness. Malty and bitter flavor with a heavy rice note. Hoppy flavors of pine, citrus and flowers. Musty and a bit heavy on the palate.

Rather delicious, but the hops are inconsistent. No, I am not a beer prude for saying such things!

Be careful pouring this one ... it is bottle conditioned and has sediment. The bottle poured a slightly hazy medium yellow beverage with a larger than average white frothy head that was mostly lasting and left good lacing on the glass. The aroma was pleasing with the balance leaning toward the hop end (of course). There was a light malt presence that took the form of cereal notes. The hops were moderate represented predominantly by a grapefruit citrus aroma. There was also a note of pineapple in the background. The body was medium with a watery-to-oily texture and lively carbonation. The flavor started off moderately sweet with a light bitterness. The finish was long and moderately bitter with a light alcohol warmth.

Bottle. Pours a light orange. Hazy with a bubbly white head. Big flowery hop nose and flavor. The intense hop bitterness is well balanced with the subtle malt flavor. Crisp finish. Very tasty, even from the bottle.
