Commercial Description:
This is the second offering in our JAMAICA line of ales. We didn't want to make another IPA like everybody else so we opted for our own style. Unfortunately the gang at the BATF wouldn't let us use "West Indies" on the label stating that there is no such place. We all thought that Columbus was looking for the West Indies and ended up here by mistake. Oh well. We call this beer Jamaica Sunset because of its golden reddish hue. We use five different hops for aroma, bitterness and floral character. You get a crisp clean flavor and complex hop finish.

12 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a hazy amber color with a half finger thick off white head. Very light lacing. Aroma is toasted malt and light hops. Flavor is mostly malt. Medium body. I’ve never had this beer before, so I don’t know if it’s any better fresh. Still, it’s not bad, just leans toward the malty side.

Hazy golden color. It’s a pleasant American Pale Ale showing some malt flavor and reasonably good hops. Pleasant.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy honey color with one finger beige head. Nose is caramel malt, floral hops and alcohol. Taste is caramel upfront with grapefruit, pine and alcohol dominating the rest of the way. Medium mouth feel. Not bad, a little unbalanced and somewhat hot for the ABV.

Pours hazy amber with a soapy beige head. The aroma has sweet toasted malt, diacetyl and some light earthy hops. Medium musty mushy body that has soft carbonation. The flavor starts with stale caramel malt, butterscotch, diacetyl and woody oxidized malt. The finish is cardboardy and medicinal. After tasting this it baffles me that this brewery made its availability debut in the area two week ago. I’d normally say I’d like to rerate with a known fresh bottle, but if this just got to the area how much fresher can I get it? Disappointing.

Pour is a cloudy orange with a almost nothing white head. Aroma is a very nice deep pine hop. Flavor is more over the top pine hops with some citrus showing up at the end. A very nice west coast hopped out the wazoo IPA.

Hazy amber with a very thin white head. Aroma of citrus, caramel, bread and sweet malt. Taste of caramel, citrus and floral hops. Thick body is balanced with a mild to medium semi-dry bitter finish.
