Commercial Description:
This is the second offering in our JAMAICA line of ales. We didn't want to make another IPA like everybody else so we opted for our own style. Unfortunately the gang at the BATF wouldn't let us use "West Indies" on the label stating that there is no such place. We all thought that Columbus was looking for the West Indies and ended up here by mistake. Oh well. We call this beer Jamaica Sunset because of its golden reddish hue. We use five different hops for aroma, bitterness and floral character. You get a crisp clean flavor and complex hop finish.

A pale copper color. The aroma is of grapefruit and a little grassy. The flavor is nicely bitter with some good citrus and pine notes.

Bottle. Pours amber orange with an off white head. Light floral hoppy aroma with a hint of sweet malts. The flavor has sweet crystal malt, with some floral hops and iced tea notes. Not bad.

Poured from the bottle a cloudy, copper-orange color with a tall, frothy, off-white head. Aroma has a very hoppy nose as soon as the bottle is opened. A stronger, watered down Cascade and/or Amarillo orange citrus hops, mild grainy and light toasted malt presence. Flavor has a modest toasted grainy malt, a strong orange citrus bite, semi-sweet fruity orange and a mild grassy hops ending that lends some bitter ending bite. Brew has a modest body with some mild carbonation that retains a very thin, filmy head and it has a slightly sticky feeling. Lacing sticks to the side of the glass. Overall a decent brew at first taste and sniff but after a few sips and some slight warming, the beer flavors do seem to compliment the light grainy maltiness present in this brew.

Nice light amber pour with a fruity/floral aroma. Hoppiness in this beer is very citrus and takes a bite out of your taste!

Bottle. Apricot pour. Citrus and caramel aromas lead to a nice grapefruit and floral hop heavy beer. Caramel malt is certainly noticeable. Pretty ok!

Bottle - Pours a dark apple cider color. Good off white head. Woodsy aroma as expected. Flavor of pine and carmal. Hoppy, but not as intense as some IPA’s. Wondering if this bottle is a bit old. However still a nice brew. Would like to try fresh.

Cloudy red-amber pour with a thick sticky white head. The nose is lightly sweet and a little bit toffeeish. There is a touch of light herbal spiciness on the back. The hoppiness initially comes across as a bit medicinal and fairly astringent. Lots of bright pine and a bit of grapefruit. Some good stuff in here, but there’s also a bunch of stuff that I’m not really a fan of.

In the bottle at the 2009 Crescent Moon Summer Beer Festival. Pours hazy light amber with a big white head. Moderate hop aroma of oranges and chocolate. The flavor is amazing and smooth with a mid-point grassiness. Love it.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange color with a medium off white head. The aroma is heavy on the orange citrus with slight hints of pine. Flavor is more orange citrus with light caramel and pine notes making an appearance. Bitterness is mild at best. This is just OK and with many more to try, not worth a second look.
