ksurkin (89), Norfolk, Virginia, USA Feb 5, 2008 Updated: Apr 7, 2008 the best offering from mad river. the steelhead double feels a bit too malty for an IPA while this beer is much more atune to the style. great floral nose without too much sting. orange and pine mostly. mouthfeel is very smooth and not too bitter at only 65IBU. overall a very solid IPA and should be a great everyday drinker.
brewski519 (77), Morrisville, North Carolina, USA Jan 7, 2009 Poured a amber orange with a thin white head. Aroma of citrus, hops and pine. Taste was pretty sweet and the hops didn’t jump out me like I typically expect from an IPA. Decent carbonation. Not a bad beer but not the best IPA I have had - more along the lines of a Pale Ale to me. jcwattsrugger (4272), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Dec 23, 2008 12oz bottle-pours a rich offwhite head with amber color. Aroma is mild pine/floral/some citrus hops then medium malt in background. Taste is medim malt-caramel/brown sugar, pine/floral/some citrus hops. Medium body. Thanks jwc215 for sharing this. coyotehunter (98), , Michigan, USA Dec 21, 2008 Orangey Amber color, lemony orange pine smell. rather floral and mildly filtered if I remember correctly. Much citrus shows through. MrBunn (1004), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours a hazy amber with a few bubbles floating around the surface, but no other head to speak of. Aromas of apple juice, floral hops and lemon. Flavor is a crisp combination of lemon peels and pine. adavis234 (28), Columbia, South Carolina, USA Nov 20, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a golden yellow with a thin, off-white head. Pleasant citrus-hop aroma. A hoppy, sweet beer with a dry finish. Surprisingly good for a beer whose six pack costs about the same as Budweiser.
