| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 30, 2008 Bottle from Rump Ranger Ross. Pours a deep, slightly murky amber with a yellowish tan head. Aroma of rich sugary malts and fruity ale esters, with some hops in there as well. Full bodied with an earthy texture. Flavor of caramel, brown sugar, and vanilla that is countered by a strong herbal and spicy hop bitterness. Finish has some bite, as well as astringency and yeastiness. Alcohol is apparent as well. This starts off well, but loses lots of ground on the finish. Screw organic malt, bring on the chemicals if this is what I get. MrBunn (1537), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 23, 2008 Bottle. Pour is a thinnish, orange/amber color with nothing more than a hint of a head. Aromas are fairly hop-driven. Lots of pine and citrus with a little bit of grass and some sweetness from caramel malts. Sill, aromas don’t really "pop" or stand out much. Flavor comes off like a highly hopped and over-alcoholed Barley Wine. A little bit rough around the edges as it is a little too assertive, which makes me wonder if it would improve a bit with more than just a few months of age. In addition to the astringent alcohol and the bite from the hops, there is a little bit of a toffee/brown sugar flavor that resonates in the aftertaste and just a faint glimmer of some dates or figes that quickly gets swallowed up by the medicinal alcohol. As it sits with this ammount of aging, I find it unbalanced and almost incomplete. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA
