Really nice take on the style for my taste. More hops than more austere versions, quite tasty.

Pours a lightly clouded hue with a light white head. Aromas of caramel, a light pine, and a hint of oak and spice. Mouth feel is medium bodied with a light sweet feel. Flavors of pine, citrus, a little rum and a drier finish than most barley wines.

12oz bottle from BevMo Carmel Mountain. I thought this beer was much better than the style % indicated. Poured a mostly clear orange amber, head was small and off white with some lacing. Nose was not very pronounced but, picked up some candied fruits, malt and hops. A slight hint of alcohol on the palate, otherwise very balanced.

12 oz. bottle via trade with TURDFERGUSON and DragonStout - Pours a hazy amber color with a 3/4 finger thick off white head. Very light lacing. Aroma is toasted malt, esters, and light floral hops. Flavor is caramel malt, alcohol, esters and light spiced hops. Medium body. Alcohol is noticeable in the finish. A good beer. Thanks Sam and Brian.

12 ounce bottle shared by Mike. Pours red/brown with a light brown head. Clings well to the glass, and leaves some spotty lace. Wonderful oxidized friut and hop aromas. Just not as strong as some that I’ve has recently. Flavor is mainly toffee, with some cardboard. Thin body. Light carbonation. Sweet finish.

12oz bottle, 2006. Thanks to John Crane. Muddled looking brown brew with no head. A grainy boozy sweet aroma that is a touch nutty with dates. Lightly sweet on your palate but that is secondary to the creamy chocolate taste that, to me, makes it seem like a malty milk shake. The alcohol is noticeable but in no way a negative. Mouth feel is full and creamy. Semi-dry finish. It’s a good and interesting effort but nothing I’ll ever seek out.

Bottled, tasted at PP Bottle Shop with deftim13, DenverLogan, wetherel, Sean & Ryan. A young barley wine that could use some aging, it pours light copper with small white head. Talk about a spicy & fruity aroma...whoa. I got a lot of apple and light ammonia notes out of this one, quite weird. Flavors comprised mostly of citrus, pepper and some tobacco. Finishes too harsh for my taste, but intriguing for the style for sure.

I’ve been wanted to rate this beer for a while. I love to try every single >10% beer I can get my hands on. Had at PP bottle shop with deftim13, hapjydeuce, denverlogan, Sean, and Ryan. I think Sean bought this bottle. Tasted side by side with some great beers and this was one of the last tasted, which probably didn’t help this rating, but it was still a decent beer. Tastes young and fresh. Leans a little dry (I like sweet). Little head, but some carbonation. Amber color. Aroma was mild. Certain events reduce my nose’s ability to smell: bars and after tasting many beers. Not a great beer, but I wouldn’t mind rerating it.
