Poured a sweet smelling amber liquid out of a nice squat bottle. No head, very sweet smelling, thick and sweet palate with a nice aftertaste. I like this barleywine quite a bit, and will get again.

Bottle. Amber color, with no head. Grapefruit aroma with lots of hops. Thick and fruity flavor with a clean lingering hoppy aftertaste. Decent barleywine. Had one age for a 1+ year and it was better than fresh.

Bottle from brawleys bev. in CLT. Pours a muddy brown color with no head. Light bodied and slightly sweet. Leaves a chalky residue when you’re done. Fruity fig, plum, raisin aroma. Subtle fruity flavors and a slight sweetness. Subtlety and fruit is the name of this one. I’m getting a little bittersweet, malty experience. Would like a little more body to my barleywines. Re-rate 7/20/08, pours more clear auburn and is on the hoppy side of barleywines, bit of a bubblegum aroma and flavor.

Rich burgendy, headless, sweet fruity aroma of figs and dates, rich malt flavor like a fine brandy, very low carbination, only the slightest hint of bitterness when it is cold and totally disipates upon warming,

Pours out a dark brown color with little to no head. What little forms is tan in color. Aroma is deep malts and caramel with a bittering finish at the end. I can safely say that I predicted the taste of this from the smell. Lots of caramel and sweetness upfront although I will say it wasn’t too sweet (which I hate). This beer is balanced out well by a nice hop profile. I think even hopheads could appreciate this barleywine as it has copious amounts of hops. Man, this stuff gets better as it warms more sweetness but then again more hops are noticed in the sip as well. I think this is a bit underrated.

355 ml, 2006 harvest, 9.5% abv. Dark brown-copper with red highlights and a medium, lasting head. Aroma is sweet pine resin and molasses. Initial flavor is caramel-chocolate-pine, evolves slowly to hop-dominated pine resin and finishes bitter resin and dry-grassy. Alcohol is well masked. Palate is medium-heavy, smooth and just dry and tingly enough on the end to refresh.

Bottle from Capones, sampled with Mad_Indian. Pours deep amber with a small light tan head. Aroma of sweetness, caramel malts, slight pine, and citrus. The flavor is sweet, very smooth prodominately caramel, with a very light pine bitterness.
