| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 5, 2007 Updated: Jul 20, 2008Bottle from brawleys bev. in CLT. Pours a muddy brown color with no head. Light bodied and slightly sweet. Leaves a chalky residue when you’re done. Fruity fig, plum, raisin aroma. Subtle fruity flavors and a slight sweetness. Subtlety and fruit is the name of this one. I’m getting a little bittersweet, malty experience. Would like a little more body to my barleywines.
Re-rate 7/20/08, pours more clear auburn and is on the hoppy side of barleywines, bit of a bubblegum aroma and flavor. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

Rich burgendy, headless, sweet fruity aroma of figs and dates, rich malt flavor like a fine brandy, very low carbination, only the slightest hint of bitterness when it is cold and totally disipates upon warming,

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 17, 2007 Pours out a dark brown color with little to no head. What little forms is tan in color. Aroma is deep malts and caramel with a bittering finish at the end. I can safely say that I predicted the taste of this from the smell. Lots of caramel and sweetness upfront although I will say it wasn’t too sweet (which I hate). This beer is balanced out well by a nice hop profile. I think even hopheads could appreciate this barleywine as it has copious amounts of hops. Man, this stuff gets better as it warms more sweetness but then again more hops are noticed in the sip as well. I think this is a bit underrated. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA

More darkfruit, raisin and molassas in the flavor. Alcohol finish. Very smooth mouthfeel. A good Barley Wine. nearbeer (1855), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Dark brown-copper with red highlights and a medium, lasting head. Aroma is sweet pine resin and molasses. Initial flavor is caramel-chocolate-pine, evolves slowly to hop-dominated pine resin and finishes bitter resin and dry-grassy. Alcohol is well masked. Palate is medium-heavy, smooth and just dry and tingly enough on the end to refresh. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA
