12 oz. bottle from Ludlow Wines. Pours a nice dark amber, slightly cloudy, with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, dark dried fruits, alcohol, malt, resin, hops, nuts, and toffee. Flavor is also complex, with a nice balance of all of the above and warming alcohol, with brown sugar and floral notes. Sticky, medium bodied, and smooth. Bottle was about a year old. A nice, complex, satisfying barleywine- not best in class, but better than rated.

Sampled at another monday night football tasting over at scottyp’s. Sampled blind with 6 others. All poured a clear amber red. Best job of hiding the abv. Pretty good example of the style.

In my opinion this is not a highly overrated beer. Pours murky brown. Nice citrus malt blend. Caramel and molasses sweetness. Good but typical.

In my opinion this is highly underrated. This is one of my new favorite beers. Beautiful molasses aroma. A great strongly-hopped barleywine. Very strong caramel flavor, and extremely tasty.

Bottle, 12oz. A semiclear, copper beer with a minimal-sized off-white head. Alcohol, dried fruits, caramel and resiny hops in the vinous aroma. Malty, vinous flavor with some caramel, dried fruits and resin. Full-bodied, warm and smooth. Fine bitterness in the finish. Maybe not a super-complex barley wine, but pretty damn good anyway, especially love the mouthfeel. 090619

A hazy dark amber ale with a thick lacing cream moka head. A pleasant toffee aroma, vinous and hoppy, resinous, with dark fruits. In mouth, a sweet and soothing taste with restrained c-hops, oily and vinous, with treacle, grapefruit and licorice. Rich and restrained. A nice barley wine. 12 0n. 2008 bottle from Bottle Barn, 2.99$.

Not a huge barley wine fan, but this one is nice and smooth. The hops really does a nice job balancing out the heavy fruit malt
