Pours a nice dark amber, slightly cloudy, with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, dark dried fruits, alcohol, malt, resin, hops, nuts, and toffee. Flavor is also complex, with a nice balance of all of the above and warming alcohol, with brown sugar and floral notes. Sticky, medium bodied, and smooth. Bottle was about a year old. A nice, complex, satisfying barleywine- not best in class, but better than rated. Butters (1652), Virginia, USA

Sampled blind with 6 others. All poured a clear amber red. Best job of hiding the abv. Pretty good example of the style. MmmcKay (280), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 27, 2009 Updated: Aug 30, 2009Bottle, 12oz. A semiclear, copper beer with a minimal-sized off-white head. Alcohol, dried fruits, caramel and resiny hops in the vinous aroma. Malty, vinous flavor with some caramel, dried fruits and resin. Full-bodied, warm and smooth. Fine bitterness in the finish. Maybe not a super-complex barley wine, but pretty damn good anyway, especially love the mouthfeel. 090619 Lubiere (4528), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Rich and restrained. A nice barley wine. 12 0n. 2008 bottle from Bottle Barn, 2.99$. Geokkjer (256), Kristiansand, Norway
