caramel, rich taste, high terminal gravity from generous use of crystal malts and or a high mash temperature. hoppy, but not overly so. nice hop flavor. Signature Columbus hop flavor in the finish. Tasty barleywine. Even better that it’s organic.

2000 harvest (12 oz bottle). Pours an amber orange color with a tiny white head. Aroma is of wet oak wood, sour cherries and honey. Flavor is malty with hints of oak wood, cherries, honey, barley and even a touch of citrus. Good overall, but could be way better.

Just a hint of alcohol and fruit. Little or no head. Cloudy amber color. Fruity and bitter taste. Very weak for a barley wine and I don’t think it because of the organic products they used.

Aroma was carmelly, chocolate,of medium strength, chill hazed amber orange color, red licoricey sweet malt taste, with a sweet chewy red fruit middle, touch of bitterness at the end. Alcohol makes brief appearance in swallow. Nice enough, but just lacks the bigger body and complexity to be a great bw

2005 bottle. Pours a hazy brownish amber with a very small off white head. Aroma was sweet and fruity, caramel, gapes and the alchol as it warmed. Flavors of the same. Was picking up some light bitterness from the hops. A solid BW, would like to see how this one played out as it aged.
