Somewhat malty for an IPA and lacked the typical hops. It hit you with all the flavor up front and then just fell off. A very average brew. Sparky27 (1608), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 12, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a very murky amber with 3 finger off-white head and delicate lacing. Nose is caramel, ripe citrus and a hint of alcohol. Taste is a heavy malt background with oranges, pink grapefruit and some pinesol in the finish. Overall pretty mellow on the hops front for a DIPA. Alcohol is well hidden but it’s a warmer for sure. Nice beer. timfoolery (484), California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Aug 12, 2008 This brew had very little head, although it was weaker than the typical double. A little darker than normal, but it carried floral hops scents. Also, sweeter than most. I wasn’t impressed by the palate at all, very rough. cbeers21 (576), Miami, Florida, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 10, 2008 Hazy copper without much head. A rather malty entry for a double ipa, and not an overwhelming hop presencce, yet still had a resonating piney bitterness which illicits more of a physical response to the hops rather than a sensorial one. Decent double ipa. NJJereme (272), Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 6, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a very opaque copper-amber color with visible sediment and a light white head. Floral and citrus aroma predominates on the pour. Definitely hoppy at first taste but becomes more floral and almost toffee-like on the finish. Medium to heavily bodied. Actually, I was surprised by the balance b/w the hops and malts, though by far more hoppy. Pretty decent brew. twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 5, 2008 bottle. Pours a hazy golden amber, small off white head that clears pretty quick. Strong toasted malt aromas, with some dank resin and citrus notes. Flavor is hops forward, lots of earthy pine and resin flavors, some chunky citrus oranges and grapefruit. Bitterness is very present, but not overpowering. Well balanced and drinkable flavor for a DIPA. Palate is a bit on the slick side with some bitter finish, but nothing unexpected. Nothing especially stunning or unique, but a very drinkable and well crafted DIPA. Trooper11 (467), Suffolk, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 3, 2008 Heavily clouded dark amber-orange brew, large foamy head. Very strong nutty aroma, malty. A bit like boiled peanuts at times. Nevermind. Humm, flavor is a lot like peanuts as well with a heavy body and extreme bitter aftertaste. It’s like they stopped the brewing process and bottled the mash. I swear I am drinking mash. thornecb (1799), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 3, 2008 Pours amber into a shaker. Off-white head quickly recedes leaving no lacing. Resin and pine aromas. Thick and sweet orange upfront with a lasting resin finish. Slight alcohol burn.
