Pours cloudy orange that sunrises to the edges with a big just off-white head that lingers fruitfully. Holy citrus, Hopman, the aroma on this one is practically orange juice mixed with lemonade with a touch of malt backing. The flavor has this familiar sweetness that I can’t quite put my finger on, almost like lemon pie with sweet whipped cream on top. This is just in addition to a subtle maltiness and big hop bitterness on the back of the tongue, which leaves you aching for another drink. Medium body with rather high carbonation to help cleanse the tongue for another sip. LtDan (529), Los Angeles County, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 18, 2009 Appearance: Pours a cloudy, dull amber with visible rising carbonation. Atop sits a creamy frothy 1/2 inch of white foam.
Aroma: Sugary malt, orange zest and rain water.
Taste: A bursting mixture of orange and grapefruit juice, rock candy sugar or turbinado sugar and finishes with a sturdy bitterness that sits on the middle of my tongue.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and juicy.
Overall: One of the first Double IPAs that really caught my attention. I am glad that after my long journey of other tongue buckling beers that this still stands the test of time against them. I’m also wondering if my tongue is really fatigued as the IBU’s just aren’t hitting my tongue as harshly as they used to. This beer seems really bold, yet balanced. joeneugs (371), Livermore, California, USA

Medium amber color. Big fruit and citrus aroma with strong hops. Very smooth, with huge fruit, plus citrus and bubblegum. Slightly too sweet. spkldhenlvr24 (466), Newburgh/Buffalo, New York, USA
