Pretty freaking decent. However, doesn’t have a double blam IPA taste. It’s mellow and smooth - not like fine grit sandpaper - more like a soft bristle toothbrush, not sure if it’s doing the job but it feels good.

12 oz. The beer looks good!; with the syrup hop mixture looking almost as strong as the tongue whack of citrus&pine and the biscuit malt sweetness to help back it up. A nice and drinkable DIPA also less the $9. A new fav.

[Compared with Meantime India Pale Ale] The Steelhead is very similar color just a touch darker--golden apricot approaching brown. Richer caramel smell. More hop sting, less sour, but still grapefruity.

Bottle poured a clear copper with a small diminishing amber head. Aromas of grapefruit with hints of orange and apricot also light pine and carmel notes. Palate was light to medium bodied, crisp and dry. Flavors of grapefruit, pine, light earthiness and light carmel with a crisp dry lingering bitter finish.

Pours bronze with a dense and sudsy tan head. The aroma has caramelly diacetyl and toffee. Medium / thick body that is smooth with fairly smooth carbonation. The flavor starts with diacetyl, caramel and butterscotch. The finish is woody and cardboardy. There is no date, but I’m sure this has past it’s prime. Will rerate if I get a better bottle. (4/3/4/3/9 - 2.3)
Got a fresh and it slightly better, but it isn’t much better. Not as much diacetyl. There is a touch of citrusy hops. This is just a freaking mess. This is my last shot at this one.

This pours a slightly hazed pale orange body capped by an off-white head that rings the bottle rather than laces it. The aroma is faint, tart oranges, a squirt of grapefruit, tropical fruit, and a hint of pine with some light caramel oozing through. The flavor is fairly well balanced twixt malt and hop. the pine kicks in a bit more strongly midway and the sturdier bitterness belies the aroma. The finish is a combination of citrusy fruitiness and an earhty bitterness, the latter dominating. Not bad, but seems more like a sessionable IPA than a DIPA.
