| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 4, 2009 Bottle shared with my bro. Smells super hoppy, like pine and grass. Tastes just as good, nice biterness, taste of pine, citric zest, and hay, but also a nice malt sweetness and brown suagr flavor counteract. Nice balance. Very good IPA.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 21, 2009 Updated: May 5, 2009My Bottom Line:
Within this lush Double IPA thrive citrus-bearing wooden, spicy hops, efficient companions to the caramel and bread crumb flavors generously offered by the malts. I would expect no less quality from a West Coast I2PA and Mad River delivers with this intense yet balanced number.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam covers the cloudy amber.
-The hop fruitiness is rather orangey, quickly developing into hop cologne when accompanied by the wooden components.
-The mouthfeel is one of its best features, imho; plump, comfortable, never syrupy.
-This may not be as bright as my favorite Double IPA examples, but it sure is a very pleasant West Coast hop fix.
-Light alcohol warmth is felt alongside the hop bitterness.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 19, 2009 Pours a blush-copper color with moderate head. Lots of caramel and residual sugars in the nose, with a fair amount of resiny citrus, making for a cotton candy-pineapple aroma. Flavor has a good amount of hop oils in it, with some grassy, herbal tones and a good amount of caramel, pale, and bready malts. Block (379), West Lafayette, Indiana, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 25, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a golden orange color, with extreme amounts of haze. Offwhite-tannish head. Aroma is mostly hop bitterness, alcohol, and some underlying bready malty aromas. Flavor is some nice hops up front, with a base of malty flavor, followed with an aftertaste that is very alcoholic and then hops bitterness at the end. DSG (1514), Tel Aviv, Israel

Cloudy orange-brown color with a stable white head. Aroma of piney hops. Bitter hoppy flavor with pine, resinous notes and a bit of malt and caramel to back it up. Medium-bodied. Decent.
