Commercial Description:
The original Extra Pale Ale, this is the one that started it all. Our first brew was introduced in 1989 in Golden Gate style kegs. We have stayed true to our beginnings and still brew it the way we did back then. A bright golden hued ale with a medium body and a crisp spicy /floral hop character and very mild bitterness. This unfiltered ale has a pleasing mouth feel and remains our most popular brew. This beer goes with everything and every occasion.

Malty, slightly floral, pearish aroma. Slightly foggy, very light gold, lacing head, fair label, California potato masher bottle, appearance dings for the twist-off. Buttery, finessed west coast hopping, slightly briny. FInish is a bit flaccid, mouthfeel is a bit starchy, but the aftertaste doesn’t cling. Overall, this is very drinkable and it’s got a distinctive taste. Warming. This would be a really good baked ham marinade or baste, there’s already baked pineapple esters.

Tallahassee, Fl. - Market Square Liquors, 12 oz bottle. Murky, golden medium pour with a slight but sticky snow white head. Odd aroma for an APA, pick up some fresh corn, perhaps some white wine. Slightly bland flavor, hints of pears, some mellow spiciness, not too much else. Clean, even mouthfeel. Just a tad underwhelmed.

Slight hint of honey in the nose, with some hops, citrusy with a little resin. Pours a very light blonde. Some citrus hops, a little pine, mostly malts. Nothing special.

Not that great of an APA, very light & too carbonated, very little head, next to no lacing, light copper color, hoppy nose with a slight hint of citrus & grapefruit, semi-skunky finish, a little too abrasive with the light hoppiness without the malt backbone, very disappointing

A good pour, with a decent amount of head. Nice strong flavor that sticks with you.

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Pale golden, average head. Rich hoppy nose with lots of lychee and pineapple. The mouthfeel is surprisingly soft and gentle and the body is light. It’s completely dominated by the aroatic hops, yet the bitternes is not really that powerful. A cottony hop aroma experience.

Orange color with not much head. Spicy hop aroma with a bit of fruit. Plenty of hop bitterness up front in the flavor with an over-ripened tangerine/apricot finish. Easy to drink but not without substantial flavor. I think the "extra" in the name is effecting some people’s perceptions since this one is not lacking in taste.
