Commercial Description:
The original Extra Pale Ale, this is the one that started it all. Our first brew was introduced in 1989 in Golden Gate style kegs. We have stayed true to our beginnings and still brew it the way we did back then. A bright golden hued ale with a medium body and a crisp spicy /floral hop character and very mild bitterness. This unfiltered ale has a pleasing mouth feel and remains our most popular brew. This beer goes with everything and every occasion.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy golden color with a large thick white head. The aroma is pale malt and light fruit. The flavor is more of the same: pale malt, light fruit, and some citrus. Light -medium bodied. Average at best.

Thanks jwc215 for picking this out. 12oz bottle-pours a foamy off white head and hazy yellow color with tiny floaties and effervescence. Aroma is mild musty fruit-mango/orange, light malt. Taste is slightly sweet light/medium malt, mild musty fruit-mango/orange, faint earthy/floral hops. Medium body. OK beer but may be stale as this doesn’t remind me of a PA. OK RB categorizes as a blond/golden, so with this in mind. 2.8

On tap at The Red in Santa Cruz. Poured into a pint glass. Golden straw color, creamy white head, minimal lacing. Aroma is mostly pale malt, sweetish with light citric hops. Flavor is much the same. Dry pale maltiness with a whisper of C hops. Barely any bitterness. Moderately astringent.

Pours a golden yellow with a nice thick white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, floral hops and some spice. Taste of lemon coming through for the citrus with the pine and a touch of hops... very easy drinking beer and would certainly recommend as this one pulls it off nicely.

Draft @ the brewery taproom. Pours a clear golden color with a small white head. Has a sweetish malty and bready aroma with some hoppy hints. Sweetish malty bready floral hoppy flavor. Has a sweetish malty and slightly hoppy finish.

12 oz bottle into pint glass -- thanks Daknole! Hazy yellow like a lemon flavored drink with small head that falls fast. Tons of yeast fell into this one. Aroma is pretty nice with some fruity (cherry? and candi sugar?) aroma. Flavor is very similar - light and refreshing over all. The palate is bizarre, almost grainy. Perhaps it is from the massive amount of yeast sediment that fell in. This thing has the potential to be great but has wuite a few flaws. Lower the amount of yeast in bottle conditioning (why is this bottle conditioned anyways), get the color and head up to par, sort ou that mouthfeel. The aroma and flavor are very nice though.

Light hazy gold with a foamy head. Citrus hop and caramel malt aroma. Light slightly sweet flavor with a short hoppy finish. Not bad, but no big deal.

2008 GABF winner...What? Why? Slightly yellow-straw color. No head. A very earthy and a bit sour odor. Tastes the way it smells. It’s ok. It’s very light with a slight coating flavor from the hops, which are barely there. Drink up. this 6 will go in minutes...It’s better than most EXTRA pale ales. but this isn’t an awesome beer. just a good one.
