Aroma is rich of semisweet chocolate, bourbon, coffee, and molasses. Quite enticing! Palate is creamy smooth, softly carbonated, and mouth-coating. Reminded me of Brooklyn’s Black Chocolate Impy Stout. Flavor of brown sugar, coffee, chalky ash, and malt. Starts fairly sweet, ends with some slowly revealed bitter flavors. A down side: for me the prickly carbonation disrupted the pristine creaminess of the beer. Overall, I really enjoyed this one, and found its attributes to be fairly unique. timsilvia32 (447), from Michigan now in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA

Pretty smooth going down, mocha, coffee, chocolate. Pretty clean finish. Could have more hops, maybe more like a milk stout. Not bad at all. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA

Dark black pour with a watery tan head. Smell is super sweet pecans - almost sugary sweet. Flavor is mostly off fruits that aren’t too enjoyable. Overall, not great. dwyerpg (2537), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Aromas of coffee, caramel, cocoa, raisins, and spicy dried wood. Flavor is coffee, dates, cocoa, spicy hickory, piquant herbs and slight sour cream. Lots of coffee, cocoa and oak on the dry finish. Medium body is lightly tingly, a tad watery, soft and dry. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Pours dark black with a small tan head. Smell is soy suace, fig like dark fruit and the taste is rich, very slightly roasty and tart, dark ripe fruits. Tastes better than it smells with less soy sauce character. Bit of an oily body with medium carbonation. Not my style of stout, but well enough made, I imagine. timfoolery (484), California, USA

This brew had chocolate flavors thoughout and was fairly smooth. A little coffee and dark fruits. ...I’d try the vanilla ice cream pairing, but I’m lactose and have replaced milk with beer. thebrownbomber (6), Walker, Michigan, USA does not count | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 22, 2008 Pours inky black and slightly oily with a dark brown creamy head which dissipated quickly. Aroma is of light grassy hops, coffee, and dark chocolate. Nice roasty complex flavors of dark chocolate and a slight fruitiness I’d associate with dark fruits with a bitter hop finish. Well balanced and full bodied. Slightly sweet, but not overdone. Very nice.
