Commercial Description:
A black opaque ale with rich creamy roasted malt character and a very mild hop complement. This beer may look a little scary but take a sip and you'll see why this Extra Stout can convert even lite beer drinkers to Stout lovers. A unique flavor profile that starts with a slight coffee flavor and finishes with a hint of roasty chocolate. Try a pint with a scoop of French Vanilla ice cream. This beer is a favorite as a compliment to any dessert or as a hearty breakfast drink.

Pours a pitch black with a medium light brown head. Sweet aroma of smooth creamy chocolate and mild roasted coffee beans. Taste is smooth and creamy chocolate malt with a hint of roasted coffee beans. Very good stout.

Pours out very black and ominous with a quickly dissipating dark head. Coffee, hops and a hint of sugar in the nose. Taste is very smooth coffee stout flavor with a little bit of hops. Very nice and another great offering from a great brewery.

This was a gift from a fellow at the "Tasting in the Woods" in Ridgeway, PA recently. very nice traditional extra stout, hops may be a bit on the mild side for the body but that is a matter of taste, nice fullness of body with a good clinging brown head, the taste is of roast malt & brown sugar, nicely conditioned as well, a real bargain at the posted price of $1.50 a bottle. Must buy some! P.S. Homebrewers, unfortunately this bottle has a twistoff cap. Bummer.

Pours into a pint glass with a black color and small brown head that disapates quickly. Aroma is mild hop character with the initial pour fading into a roasty, chocolate and hints of coffee. Initial taste starts with coffee, roasted chocolate pours over the palate claiming it’s fame. The mouthfeel is slight sticky and medium body. There is a faint sour overlay surrounding the body of this stout. Finishing with roasty palate and mild bitter hop. Palate ages slow. Leaving you with the ice cream smooth texture palate. This is truly a stout to savor slowly and deliberately for its taste as well as its grace.

Pours pitch black with a thin brown head. Aroma was sweet with hints of semi sweet chocolate, malts, brown sugar and plum. The flavor was a little mild, but smooth, with notes of coffee, vanilla, chocolate, malts, and mollasses. Overall a very good and easy drinking stout.

Black pour, brown head. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malts and some leafy hops. Taste is dry roasted malts, dark chocolate and yes just like the aroma leafy hops. Dry bitter character roasty but with some sweetness. some coffee also comes as it warms, creamy mouthfeel and pretty good beer.

Picked up single 12-oz bottle at John’s Market Place in Portland, Oregon. Pours an opaque near motor oil black colored brew with a decent tan head that slowly dissolves to a film and tan ring. Aroma of dark chocolate, toasted dark malt, some molasses, toffee and a touch of coffee. Taste is full bodied, thick, chewy with hardy any carbonation with toasted dark malt, chocolate and a touch of flowery bitter hops. Finish is smooth, creamy with a dark chocolate aftertaste. That was one heavy stout.

A simple but pleasant stout with all of the usual characteristics. The Aroma has chocolate and malt, and the flavor has these as well as coffee. A fairly thick and heavy beer with a better than average palate, and it is very smooth.
