Aug 9, 2009 Good sized dark brown head of dense and creamy bubbles. Aroma of terraki sauce, sweet malts and some salty bologna. Yeah, I am weird. Very dark brown in color. Medium bodied. Very flavorful. Lots of roasted grains, toffee and a decent helping of mild coffee late swallow. Some earthy notes (herbal) in there also. Finishes rich and creamy with a lingering slightly bitter coffee aftertaste. A decent stout.

Jul 24, 2009 Appearance: Pours out a dark brown, near black body with a thin, off-white head that, one expired, no amount of swirling can seem to resuscitate.
Smell: Roasty, malty nose smelling of dark chocolate, chilled espresso, blackened grains, molasses, and vinous dark fruits.
Taste: Roasted maltiness with tastes of dark chocolate and sugar-sweetened coffee that eventually develops into a flavor of chocolate-covered espresso beans. Gentle background dark fruitiness. Earthy, lightly roasty with a fairly low bitterness. Finishes dry and roasty with just a minor hint of black malt astringency.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium-low carbonation.
Drinkability: Overall, it’s a pleasant, quaffable, fairly solid stout.

Jul 14, 2009 Bottle. Pours black with a medium brown head. Aroma is of roast malts; a little coffee. Flavor is mostly coffee with a creamy aftertaste. Not bad at all.

Jul 14, 2009 Bottle. Blackish beer with a tan head. Light roasty aroma with richer malt. Rich caramel and toffee with light coffee. Richer bodied. Toffee, caramel, and light coffee linger.

Jul 8, 2009 Weak aroma of dirt, dates, and chocolate. Black pour with a huge brown head, fair lacing. Mocha flavor with a tarty, yet faint, raisin/date flavor comes and goes. Watery mouthfeel, attributed more to the faulty pour than the beer itself. Leaves an immaculate palate. Smooth and balanced, but not terribly exciting.

Jun 4, 2009 A thick sticky tan head above an opaque black body, Aroma is coffee, nuts, caramel, and tea. Taste is sweet, tea, licorice, taffy, and pepper. Texture is smooth, with a nice rounded mouthfeel. A great session, even if not by definition. Very enjoyable, and extremely affordable, at $12 a case at Canal’s Lawrenceville, NJ.
